Wonderful bungalow.

This is our second trip to the bungalows, in as many years. We scuba dive with Safari Diving, whose location on the beach makes this the ideal holiday accommodation.
Once kitted up on the bungalow patio, the sea is less than 50 paces into the sea. The bay is great for 1hr 8-10m bimble diving. Just beyond the natural cove it starts to shelve to 30m. The sea is jam packed with wildlife.
The bungalows are big, comprising of 2 twin bedrooms both with full ensuites; a central open plan kitchen, lounge, diner arrangement. Outside is the patio with a sun blind, two sun loungers and an outside shower for rinsing off dive kit. Adjacent to the kitchen is a drying and storage area for wetsuits, BCDs, rash vests, boots etc.
Since last year the bungalows have been redecorated throughout and are clean and modern. There isn't any aircon, but the constant sea breeze, and keeping the windows open, does keep the flat acceptably cool. It's not a deal breaker.
The bungalows are managed by Costa Volcan & Spa, which provides full maid and maintenance cover. The bungalows are cleaned almost every day, and are spotless. The cleaner does appear at 10am ish, which means that you are gently nudged to get up and go for a morning snorkel!
The only real downside is having to deal with the Costa Volcan reception staff, an older chap who is incredibly off with hotel guests. Do read the reports about him on the main hotel's page, he's quite a character. We were given the run around about using the hotel's "24hr self service launderette facility". The washing machine & dryer only use tokens, which you have to buy from the receptionist. He goes home at 3pm, and he doesn't have any today because we didn't telephone in advance! I have very little time for people who play games, so we went down the road to the launderette for a service wash. Whilst we're waiting for the laundry to be done we're going on another dive.

Ruined holiday

Like a hostel, poor furnishings and very basic, not even an electric kettle, noise from building works next door was constant from 8 in the morning till 8 pm even at weekends, don't even think about staying here

A very tired property

Although the bed was comfortable pretty much everything else was not. Bathroom very dated and although the shower worked, it was poor. No bath mats in the bath to stop you slipping. Health hazard. Only one plug socket in the main bedroom, on the wall in the middle of the bed!! Wardrobe doors didn’t work properly. Towels provided very small & poor quality. Bedroom window blind had holes in it and was difficult to get to stay down. Although a good location if your into scuba diving I found it had very few other features worth noting well. A note on the booking in, although we were early still didn’t get into the property until the correct time, even though we saw it being cleaned 4 hours earlier! Receptionist was quite unhelpful & abrupt. Will not be staying again. Overall it needs a good refurb & some thought for customers needs. All furniture of poor quality.

Winter holiday in Puerto del Carmen

The bungalows are pretty, cleaned everyday and right on the beach. There is no WiFi and 3G signal is poor, but the real problem is that there is a little gap that links each house so you hear everything your neighbours are doing; talking, laughing, farting and laughing about farting...you get the idea. It is for this reason that I would not recommend these bungalows unless noise does not bother you in which case they are perfect at around €75 per night.

Villas Blancas

Gave these an average rating because of the superb location. They are right on the beach with lovely views. All downhill from there. Very basic accommodation badly in need of refurbishment. As the weather was changeable, even chilly at times we found the villa very cold particularly at night. It was actually warmer outside. Beds were freezing. We did ask for a heater but no such luck. Did get a blanket for the beds - all single and so noisy. Corner sofa in living area very stained covered with faded throws. They also felt damp. We got the impression that we were the first occupants after the winter. Cooker didn't work properly and when we complained a gentleman who had no English came to look at it but couldn't do anything with it. It actually blew a trip one night so we certainly weren't too happy to use it again. No satisfaction from reception Costa Volvan Appts. Bathroom fittings dated and stained, chipped bath. Cleaning lady was excellent but there was little she could do to improve the appearance of the villa. Villas look pretty from the outside and attracted lots of attention from passers by but it is certainly a case of not judging the book by the cover.
