More than decent
Small, super cozy villa with a more than familiar atmosphere, few rooms, so the tranquility is total and, on top of that, there is nothing better around. The staff is just right for the hustle and bustle that can be seen.
Fran is the manager and viable face of your stay, a charming guy who goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. When we arrived he showed us the 2 available rooms so we could choose a symbolic but appreciated detail. The owner is a character but affable and also nice.
Fantastic location, that is, as long as you go by car. You have everything just a stone's throw away. With good access wherever you go. And as the hotel offer in Marbella is, little more can be asked for. Maybe with more affordable prices you would be stuck... 100 euros per night is enough... But as I said, there is little to choose from, just to rent an apartment from the countless existing offers.
To add a drawback apart from the already mentioned price, the access is terrifying, ideal to go with two drinks on top.

I booked a double room to go to the Starlite in Marbella. The website I used showed the cost at 145 and when I got there I was charged 160. I had no option but to pay the extra or we weren't going to be able to stay. When I booked the room it was advertised as a 'superior double' and so I thought it may be something a little special. How wrong I was. Room 204 is a tiny, noisy, badly decorated hole of a room. The only thing that it might be superior to would be sleeping in the car.
Clearly there has been money spent on the public areas of the hotel. Maybe spend a little on where your guests actually stay!!
Oh, and if there is a pool??? Have a sign or 2 to show where it is.
Any prospective guest is now warned. The star rating is a mystery to me .

Great stay, Thank you Franklin
Thank you Franklin for the hospitality and friendliness, the place is very nice and quiet and 10 min from downtown. Also welcome the presence of two cat friends, they made us feel at home!

A unique Villa/Hotel experience
The first thing you need to understand about this Villa/Hotel is that it is very unique! Its beautifully decorated and very clean! The current owner took over from previous management in 2018. The hotel has some exciting plans for 2020. Introduction of an evening meal and the spa area having a make over.
My partner and I wanted a remote location away from the busyness of the Marbella resort but also wanted easy access to the centre, should we want the busyness! This hotel is located on a cliff top.
The owner Diaa is a very genuine host. He went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. He was very knowledgable about Marbella and places to go. His manager who is onsight most of the time was very approachable and very helpful.
The breakfast was a buffet style typical Mediterranean - cheese, ham, boiled eggs, toasted bread, yogurts and a selection of fruit. Breakfast times were very flexible, they stated 8am till 11am but many mornings I would be going for breakfast around 12pm. The hotel were very accommodating.
The spa area is going through some maintenance as our stay was out of season the full facilities weren't available however we did enjoy the steam and sauna rooms.
If you are hiring a car then access to centre, nearby shopping mall and beaches is within a 10minute drive. There is plenty of parking and the hotel is gated so security is very good. We used uber during our stay and an average fare was €5.
We would definitely recommend Hotel San Francisco! And we are planning on rebooking very soon.

Villa San Francisco... attached to Hotel
This hotel has a villa run by same people a few yards away. Owners have taken site down as don't want public to know how bad it is so I've had to post review here.
On arrival we were informed mice had eaten through cables therefore insufficient lighting around hazardous steps to accommodation and pool area. No TV or Wi-Fi as advertised. Only 1 deep pool working, child friendly pool unusable as was Turkish bath, lounge area and Jacuzzi. Multiple tiles and decking loose, one area cordoned off. Dead mouse and ant infestation made a bedroom unusable. Upon opening drawers 22 unopened condoms, part used toiletries in shower cubicle therefore, bedroom had not been cleaned or inspected.
We had to buy cleaning supplies, ant powder, toilet paper as villa very dirty. Sunbeds and lounger covers dirty and mouldy hence the first day spent cleaning kitchen area and stripping and washing bed covers.
Owner was unconcerned and told us to wash towels and bedding as she didn't provide any change of either! Insufficient towels, crockery, pots, cutlery in kitchen plus previous holiday makers food on shelves in open area with mouse droppings around them. Awful plastic plates and tea stained plastic cups in cupboards. Oven was propped up by a pallet. The owner and her family were constantly peering over and watching us which was very creepy considering young girls sunbathing etc.. also she constantly invaded our privacy by watering plants. On the last day we received a call whilst on the beach saying too many occupants and she wanted us out?? Returned to villa and had to open all bedrooms to prove occupancy. This spoilt the last day of our holiday.
We have since been informed that aircon, change of bedding, first aid kit, brochure information about nearby medical facilities etc is required by law. Also owner was required to take photocopies of passports. None of these requirements were met... oh did I mention she drove past me on the pot holed, unlit dirt track to her badly signposted property and called me a b**??
As a group we shall be taking this further as we believe she's operating the villa illegally
