Only 6 km from the medieval town of Sarria, a popular starting point for the Camino de Santiago, Casa Caxigueiro is located in the Barbadelo village. Pilgrims can get their cards stamped here. All rooms have wooden flooring and stone walls, some of which are decorated with mural paintings dating back to the 12th and 13th century. If you like a good table and good food, this is the right place!

This hostel has its charm, it is attended by two sisters who make it excellent, the food is completely delicious, from the accommodations I can say, they will meet very old things, but what is the cleanliness is perfect, neatness in the beds and when serving the table, in general is excellent, always considering that it is a very old house. It is a little away from the Town, but there we started our pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and it was perfect. For me a 4.8 out of 5.

Incomparable

What a gem. Off the tourist route. Outside it resembles a typical Spanish farmhouse. Inside it is a memory maker. First stones laid in the 12th century then first “remodeled” by the family in the 18th century. Theresa, the owner, grew up in the house her family has owned for 900 years. Our corner room on the 2nd floor was wonderful. Ceiling beams of ancient trees. Two foot thick stone walls made wi-fi reception almost impossible but who needed it in this beautiful building. (Reception was adequate in the common areas). Teressa cooked an outstanding dinner and a full breakfast for $20. The ambience and memories… outstanding.

Everything is excellent, the facilities, the homemade food with ingredients from the farm and above all the attention of the owners is very good and friendly, invited to return. A great experience.

16th century family home

This home is run by two sisters. It is very clean and very old. The food was excellent. The bed is comfortable. If doing the Camino, I recommend staying in Sariya to take advantage of Pilgrims mass and meeting people. For our first time in Spain, this was a great experience.
