Nice and relaxing
My partner and I stayed for a week in this hotel. We went all inclusive plus which I think was worth the money.
We stayed on the 4th floor and had a balcony with a view of the beach and main road, directly above the construction works going on - this didn’t bother us - the workers definitely had limited hours when they could work and noise wasn’t bad at all. The room was spacious and clean, run down in places but expected. We left a card in the slot at all times so the AC was lovely to come back to when needing a cool down.
The food was good, expected with an ai buffet, it had different theme nights with a variety of other foods. However, there was a lot of pork on offer, it seemed like one of the only meats sometimes so limited options for meat if you’re not a pork lover like myself. The pool bar and snack bar was great, always stocked up with hot food from 11am.
From reading previous reviews about sun loungers I was a bit apprehensive and worried we wouldn’t ever get one. However, we always found a sun lounger and didn’t need to get up early either, timing was never a problem. That been said, a lack of parasols was the issue for us as we didn’t want to be in the full sun constantly and preferred to have loungers with parasols. Unfortunately we only managed this twice in the whole week. It was a regular occurrence to see that some days people would reserve sunbeds with towels and parasols and not turn up for hours which was frustrating to see. There is a worker who goes around and does ticket sun beds without anyone on but we only saw this happen twice and was around lunch time both times! This been said, the times when we were sun bathing and loungers were left unattended for hours no one came over and ticketed them! Very inconsistent service.
The night time entertainment was okay. We never got seats for the entertainment as there simply isn’t enough for the amount of guests they have. We usually stood and watched along with everyone else who didn’t get a seat. Big groups typically reserved spots as soon as dinner opened at 6:30! As soon as the entertainment was gone, most people went to bed so that’s when we’d get a seat and have more drinks from the bar. As we were AIplus we found the drinks to be great, a little on the strong side for some, but nice overall. The beer selection wasn’t the best however but still nice. The bar did shut at 11:30 each night, even at the weekend when a sign said 1am close!
The beach was a close walk as well as some shops and a bus stop.
Overall, a very enjoyable trip, and a lovely stay :)

Overall very satisfied and excellent holiday
Just got back from spending a week AI in this Hotel, can honestly say me and my wife had a fantastic time.
Food was good quality with different themes each day, ie Asian, Mexican, plenty of choice for everyone, also had a poolside snack bar with burgers hot dogs, fries etc.
Hotel is about 5 minute walk to the beach, there is a steep set of steps leading down to the clean sandy beach.
Few restaurants and souvenir shops within walking distance, local busses, taxis available within 5 mins walk.
There are a few Irish bars within 5 minute walk which has Live music and Karaoke, we had a great nights.
You can get a taxi to the Yumbo centre which has a whole host of shops restaurants and bars,
We had a great laugh in Ricky's Drag bar.
Overall very satisfied with the holiday, well done to the animation team too, tried hard in trying to keep all different nationality entertained, we joined in with the fun and had a great laugh,
Rooms were clean and bedding towels changed daily,
So much more to say, but haven't got time to say it all,
I have stayed in worse 4 Star hotel and this is only rated 3, very satisfied and had an amazing holiday

Noisy
Arrived to discover Jet2 had only booked one room and not two, despite providing evidence of my paying for two rooms reception said nothing they could do and I spent over an hour on phone to UK call centre before securing a room for the night. I was told by hotel not to unpack as I would have to move the next day. The receptionist was not pleasant.
Coffee machine not working and milk out of date.
Construction noise seriously impacted my children’s stay on 1st floor and stopped me using my balcony on 6th floor. We should have been warned by jet2 prior to arrival.
Hotel generally is noisy, cleaners banging at 8am, carpet cleaning at 9am on a Saturday. Noisy road and entertainment on until 11pm ish most nights.
Food ok but very repetitive, the snack bar is re-constituted breakfast items apart from burgers, pizza and chips at lunchtime.
The wine is not nice. Lager ok. You have to pay extra for proper cocktails.
Having to pay for the safe was a bit odd , I’d expect that to be included.
I was given a ‘deluxe’ room due to the problem at check in but only difference is a sea view and a coffee machine instead of a kettle. Couldn’t enjoy the sea view because of the construction noise.
Room itself needed some TLC, furniture with chunks out of it, bathroom door rotten, shower temperature changing during use, lamp flickering and not secure in its socket…
Organisation at check out very poor with long queues and strangely the queue under the ‘check in’ sign was actually for ‘check out’ which I only discovered after 20 mins of queuing in the wrong place.
Didn’t have a problem with Sun loungers, but then was up early anyway cos of the noise.
If you are someone that is up and out early and doesn’t return to your room until evening you’ll be fine but if you want a lie in or to enjoy your room I would say it’s not for you.
Entertainment team great fun though and aqua gym / dance and the pool is what saved our holiday.
NOTE: To be fair to the hotel I have opened a formal complaint with Jet2 as some of our experience was down to them.

Current building works are an issue!
Loud building works.
We are coming to the end of a week at the hotel, our 3rd visit in 3 years as the hotel is great for the price and we've never had any issues before.
However on arrival we realised there are extensive building works going on, outside at the front and side of the building where previously there had been a row of shops. We were disappointed as these have been handy in the past, though there are other shops nearby.
My children are both neurodivergent and spend most of the day, happily hanging out in their room however I did notice they both seemed more overwhelmed than usual when they joined me in the evening. Unfortunately I hurt my back quite badly on the 2nd day and needed to spend most of the day in bed which was when I discovered that there had been very loud drilling pretty much all day everyday. There is no way anyone could sleep past 8.15 am, take an afternoon nap or use the balcony if their rooms are on the front or road side of the hotel, which is a large percentage of the rooms. Jet2 have been pretty rigid in their claim it is minor disruption. It is not. The hotel offered a late check out on one of our 4 rooms and jet2 a £50 voucher. I didn't want to spoil the holiday arguing but I won't be returning again and I'm not sure I'll use Jet2 again tbh. I feel we should have been warned about the works so we could have preemptively requested quiet rooms (ND kids won't move once they've settled in a space).

Disappointing Holiday. Expected more
Our stay at the Abora was mixed. We went as a family of 3 adults for 11 nights and had 2 rooms, The hotel is in a great position for the beach, shopping, the bus station and walks along the front to all the activity at Maspalomas
Our room was very good. We were on the 2nd floor. The housekeeping team came round everyday. We were all inclusive and couldn't fault the food. There was always plenty of choice and you never went hungry. We never had a problem finding a table and if the only ones available were for 2 they would push 2 together no problem. The main pool area is very busy. The doors don't open till 8am and you get the usual long queue for sunbeds , something we don't bother doing. We tended to go to the other pool which was quieter and always managed to get some beds. .There is a system where they put tickets on the beds if unoccupied for too long but we never experienced that. There is very limited Wi-Fi by this pool which can be frustrating and meant you had to go to the snack bar or the main part of the hotel to get any signal
Our main problem was the evening entertainment, we felt it was very poor. There was nowhere near enough seating for the amount of guests at the hotel, During our stay we think there was one visiting singing act which we never stayed for as there was nowhere to sit. The rest of the evening entertainment was the small entertainment team singing and dancing for a short while. Extremely disappointed with the evenings as this meant all we had to do was go for a walk along the front which got a bit tedious.
As previous reviews have said we felt the hotel was more aimed at Spanish and German holidaymakers, which isn't a problem but did make us feel a bit on the outside.
Gran Canaria is a lovely island and we might possibly go back one day but wouldn't stay at this hotel.
