First, the property itself is absolutely beautiful. The architecture, gardens, and overall atmosphere are stunning, tasteful, and full of character. It is truly a spectacular place.
However, for a 5-star hotel, I expected much more attention to detail and service quality.
I stayed in Suite 23 and, despite its historical charm, the strong moldy smell when entering the room was extremely unpleasant and not compatible with a luxury hotel experience.
I also had issues during check-in. I arrived at the official check-in time and still had to wait around two hours in the bar area before my room was ready.
Another disappointment was that no staff member ever offered to present the hotel, its facilities, or the history of the property. Considering how unique the place is, I expected a much more personalized and welcoming experience.
The restaurant was also below expectations. The menu was extremely limited, and the food itself was disappointing for a hotel of this level.
Finally, I requested a croissant through room service during the afternoon and was told it was only available at breakfast time. For a 5-star hotel, the lack of flexibility for such a simple request was frustrating.
Overall, a visually incredible property, but the service experience still falls short of true luxury standards.

Stunning Hotel, But Far From a True 5-Star Experience

I also had issues during check-in. I arrived at the official check-in time and still had to wait around two hours in the bar area before my room was ready.
It is also worth mentioning that my wife is pregnant, which made the long waiting time and lack of proper assistance even more uncomfortable for us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay at Grand Hotel Son Net.
We are truly pleased to read that you appreciated the beauty, character, and atmosphere of our historic property. Preserving the authenticity and charm of the Palace while delivering a memorable guest experience is something we care deeply about.
At the same time, we are sorry to learn that certain aspects of your stay did not fully meet your expectations.
Regarding your arrival experience, we would like to clarify that your suite was in fact ready upon your arrival. We only required a brief additional verification prior to handing over the keys, which was completed within approximately 5 minutes. Nevertheless, I will personally review with the team why your overall waiting time was perceived as significantly longer, as this is certainly not the experience we aim to provide our guests.
We also regret if the atmosphere of Suite 23 was not to your personal preference. As a historic property, maintaining the balance between authenticity and comfort is extremely important to us, and your comments have been shared with our team for further review.
Concerning the croissant request, our bakery selection is freshly prepared every morning from 6:00 a.m. by our pastry team in order to guarantee the highest standards of freshness and quality of our pastries, including our croissants. Reason why these products are not featured in our all day Room Service menu. It is precisely this dedication to craftsmanship and product excellence that led Grand Hotel Son Net to receive the award for “Best Breakfast in Spain & Portugal 2025” by Conde Nast Traveler during the prestigious ''Hotel & Mantel Awards 2025''.
We appreciate your observations, as they help us continue refining the experience we strive to provide to every guest.
We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future for a stay more fully reflective of the standards we aim to uphold.
Kind regards,
Juan Miguel Gervás

Come for breakfast but don’t bother staying
This was the first night of our babymoon. I am pregnant, travelling with a toddler & expected a relaxing stay. We chose Grand Hotel Son Net specifically for a special, peaceful and luxurious experience to celebrate before our new baby arrives.
From 10:30pm until the early hours of the morning we were subjected to loud relentless industrial mechanical banging directly adjacent to room 24. It was almost every hour until sunrise… When I raised the issue, staff claimed to have no idea what was causing it. In a boutique hotel of just 31 rooms that response is simply not credible. Furthermore, the room had a welcome card with two other guests names on it- suggesting our room allocation was a last minute decision made with little care or attention.
The hotel comped our small food bill as a gesture. It was less than a quarter of the cost of the room. For a ruined babymoon, it doesn't come close.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly pleased to hear that you appreciated the beauty of our gardens and enjoyed the breakfast experience during your stay.
However, I am deeply disappointed to learn that your visit did not provide the peaceful and relaxing experience you had anticipated, especially during such a meaningful occasion as the beginning of your babymoon. I completely understand how disappointing and frustrating it must have been to experience repeated disturbances throughout the night, particularly while travelling pregnant and with a young child.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the noise disturbance, as well as for the oversight regarding the welcome card in your room. This is certainly not the level of care, attention, or detail we strive to provide to our guests.
Your comments have been shared with the relevant teams so that we may investigate these matters thoroughly and take the necessary steps to prevent similar situations in the future.
Should there be anything further I may assist you with, or if you would be open to discussing your experience in more detail, please know that I remain entirely at your disposal. Your comfort and satisfaction are very important to us, and I would welcome the opportunity to restore your confidence in our service.
Kind regards,
Juan Miguel Gervás
