Perfect
Great hostel/pension. Me and 2 friends stayed here for 2 nights. The host was very friendly and the location is perfect. We arrived at 0.30 at night which was no problem. Nothing super luxurious but the price/quality was great. Clean bathrooms and nice beds.

Don’t stay here unless you want to party all night
Booked this because I saw the pics and thought it would be a nice clean pension. Instead it was a run down hostel. Starting just coming in through the front door the building smelled of sewer. The room was dingy and worn. Attempts to “spruce it up” had been made by taking scissors to cheap wallpaper for a border that was barely sticking to the wall. I’m glad we didn’t need heating as the radiator had fallen off the wall and was disconnected. The bedspread was stained and the linen thread bare. Two bathrooms were obviously not enough for the amount of guests, there was a long line while waiting for people to gingerly enjoy 30 minute showers, there was no separate toilet. Worst of all was the extreme noise from the street. Little did I know I had booked a hotel on the busiest bar street in town. The screaming went on until 5am. We hardly got any sleep. I wish I could have worn double earplugs as one pair was not nearly enough. I’ve stayed in San Sebastián many times, but never in such a dump before.

Perfect location
Perfect location, in the middle of old town and also close to the beach. Friendly host and no problems during our stay. If you value location this is perfect. Be aware of the noice nighttime. Clean rooms aswell as bathrooms.

Pintxos Tour
Anyone who researching where to stay has a dilemma in San Sebastian if on a budget. You either sacrifice a small amount of comfort for the being dead in the middle of old town where all the good Pintxos bars are or pay double the price and have a long walk.
Aires is in the old town right in the heart of all the bars. The Pension is simple to find , download a street map before going. The rooms a clean and we had a triple. The double bed was firm and comfortable the single slightly softer. Good WiFi is available and John the host very pleasant and welcoming. The rooms are basic and have no TV or A/C.
Due to the street noise from below, this pension is on the second floor I would advise earplugs as there is a fair amount of noise from folks simply having a good time below. Please note there are NO quiet places to stay in the old town due to the large numbers of people and bars. We dine early to mid evening and we were in bed by midnight. The locals though are just getting going then so the noise continues until 02.00 am. We put the ear plugs in and drifted of to sleep quickly.
The Pension is to my mind fairly priced be prepared though the rooms share two toilets a bath and a shower. All spotlessly clean.
Parking is 200 ish metres away , be careful not to park in the residents bays though as your car will be towed away.
We plan to visit again and will definitely stay at the Aires again.

Great place in San Sebastian
We enjoyed our room, bathroom. Location a nice 20 min. walk down a hill to the busier area of town. $5 taxi ride back up.
Located near the Queen's summer palace, nice walk in the evening.
Free and plentiful parking.
