Lovely Hostel

A lovely Hostel with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is a two star Hostel so lacks the finish of a higher star Hotel but it is a lovely traditional building with all mod cons including air conditioning. The couple who run this Hostel and the Cal Ramon Restaurant where so friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was delicious. I would highly recommend this lovely Hostel for visiting cyclists and hikers.

Luxurious rooms and generous portions

My six travelling companions (all of them Catalan) and I (Canadian) had chosen Hostal Cal Pla as an overnight stop on a four-day hike along the trails that lead from Montseny to Montserrat. As we approached from the east, the dry, bare landscape we'd been crossing have way to orchards and freshly sown wheat fields, pastures and the occasional outcrop of russet-coloured rock. The owner of Hostal Cal Pla recognised one of our number from a previous hike as we approached the restaurant she runs and was effusive in her welcome. She walked us down the street to the guest house itself after we downed a few *very* could and very welcome beer.
The guest house was built by a turn-of-the-century architect for his family, The front façade is in the local art nouveau style for which the Catalans are famous. The interior retains many of the original features (including a tapestry!) and has been furnished with items from a local antique dealer's. The rooms were ample, the water pressure extraordinary, the hot water endless. The famously copious dinner, which lived up to its reputation, was served at the owner's nearby restaurant and breakfast in the guest house itself--fresh pastries, fruit and coffee. In the morning, out hiking trail picked up again perhaps 50 metres from the front door of Hostal Cal Pla
My wife and I paid 100 euros for the night, which included dinner and breakfast. Strongly recommended. For a heritage building in the heart of the village, Cal Pla proved very quiet, immaculately clean, cheerful, and cosy (but not over-cosy).
