A fantastic break in a fantastic hotel!
We found our room clean and spacious and with a fantastic view of the forest and sea, with the pool just below. There were always plenty of sun beds available around the pool, as well as many places to choose from to relax inside and out on the terrace. The food was lovely; we had breakfast each day but also tried lunch and dinner which were equally as excellent, especially the paella! We also enjoyed the bbq night with live music, which also saw some of the staff joining in!
There is a bus stop just outside in case we wanted to go into town, as well as three beaches within easy walking distance, and the forest, all of which were beautiful. There are many places to eat nearby and we found plenty to keep us occupied.
We can see why our family chooses to return time after time, and we cannot wait for our next stay!

Dirt. Destruction. Disappointment.

Excellent location; disappointing accommodation.
Our biggest problem was the room temperature. During the day it stayed around 29–30 °C (85 °F) and only dropped a couple of degrees very late at night, which made it extremely difficult to sleep comfortably. To make matters worse, the air conditioning turns off automatically every time you leave the room, so it is impossible to return to a cool room after spending the day in the Mallorca heat.
After reporting the problem repeatedly, the hotel finally moved us to a different room. The new room was on a lower floor, facing east instead of west, and it was also an apartment instead of a standard room. It was slightly cooler, but only by a couple of degrees; definitely not enough to sleep comfortably.
The new apartment also had two televisions, but one of them did not work. We did not travel to Mallorca to watch television, but when it is difficult to fall asleep due to the heat, it is nice to have the option of having something on in the background while you try to rest. It was another small detail that reflected a lack of maintenance.
We perfectly understand that summers in Mallorca are very hot. However, many hotels in destinations with similar climates manage to maintain a pleasant temperature in their rooms. That the repeated response was simply “that’s how it is here” is not acceptable when guests cannot rest properly.
Another disappointment was the beach towel policy. Towels are not included, but rather rented, and every time you want a clean towel, the exchange is considered a completely new rental with an additional charge. For a beach hotel, this policy seemed unnecessarily restrictive to us.
The location, although beautiful, also ended up causing transportation problems. We took a taxi to Santanyí, but when we tried to return, several taxi drivers refused to come to Playa Mondragó because they preferred to provide service to Cala d'Or. Getting transportation back to the hotel ended up being much more complicated than we imagined.
What disappointed us the most was not just the heat or the inconveniences, but the general attitude. Most of our concerns always received the same response: "That's how it is here." Although the staff we dealt with was friendly, we rarely felt that there was a real interest in solving problems beyond explaining why they occurred.
The location is absolutely spectacular, but a beautiful landscape alone does not compensate for uncomfortable rooms, inconsistent maintenance, unfriendly policies, and an evident lack of urgency to address guest concerns.
Unfortunately, we would not stay here again and we cannot recommend this hotel to other travelers. The facilities are old and the rooms are not well maintained. Our recommendation would be to look for a better hotel to rest comfortably and visit Cala Mondragó through excursions or transportation services. The beach is truly spectacular and totally worth the visit; the hotel, in our experience, is not.

Not again
However, the hotel itself is extremely dated. The pool is really dirty (tarnish and murky). Breakfast is not much. I'm sure there are designated places so you can't just have breakfast outside, which is a shame. Beds are pretty hard.
The most annoying part comes afterwards. At check-out I got the bill in Spanish. I asked why the bill was higher than on the reservation. The receptionist indicated that it was about overnight stays, taxes and bar fees. That was plausible, so I paid for it.
Later I found out that taxes were already included on the reservation and that €12 was also charged for towel use. This was for the borrowed, old (with holes) beach towels. This while I had money for the deposit with me when borrowing, but I did not have to pay it according to the receptionist. I emailed about this situation, as a matter of principle, but it was responded that the receptionist had been working there for some time and that she knows how it works perfectly well. That strikes me as if the situation as I described it is incorrect. I have never experienced such an unpleasant experience and I hope never to experience it again. Not worth repeating.
