From the ashes to the light

In 2011 the old priory of Trespaderne suffered a tremendous fire.Later it rose from the ashes turned into a cozy rural hotel. Its rehabilitation has received international architectural awards. The ancient stone arches combine with concrete and wood to create an atmosphere of open space full of light and with an inspiring decoration. The garden and pool looks at the medieval bridge and the mountain.Excellent breakfast with local products served by the friendly Dora

A memorable experience at Trespaderne Priory: Luxury, Breakfast and Superlative Service

From the moment you walk through the door, Trespaderne Priory transports you to a place where exquisite taste and history merge perfectly.
The building is a real gem. Every detail, from architecture to interior decoration, has been selected with pampering and elegance that demonstrate superlative care. In addition, I want to emphasize that the cleanliness is absolutely flawless; the feeling of neatness in all areas is total.
Breakfast deserves special mention. It is a delicious experience, with high quality products and a careful presentation that raises the start of the day to an exceptional level.
But what really made our stay unforgettable was the attention received by the housekeeper. His professionalism and warmth are worthy of the highest praise. Not only did he make sure everything was perfect, but he attended us with a dedication and kindness that exceeded all expectations. Their treatment is simply superlative, making us feel cared for and special at all times.
If you’re looking for a getaway where good taste, perfect cleanliness and excellent breakfast are complemented by unrivalled human attention, this is your place.

Only right and therefore disappointing

I like to start with the positive: the renovation has its charm and is rating as recent, although even more care could have been taken in some details (for example, in several places simple and prefabricated materials have been used where there was previously stone or wood).
On the other hand, the rooms are spacious, quite clean (not spotless) and, above all, well soundproofed and equipped, so they are very multipurpose.
What to say about the surroundings and the location: the views from the garden are very beautiful and the village is perfectly situated to visit Las Merindades with basic services on hand.
The reasons why I cannot consider that a good experience is offered here, considering the prices they charge, are as follows:
1. The extra bed (folding) in the “fit” rooms for 4 people is of terrible quality. Cheap structure and mat of little thickness that is even more so. In La Solana, moreover, you are in a room (dining room/lounge) where light enters from the staircase and the outside without remedy.
2. At the end of September and with 5 degrees minimum at night, the heating is not turned on despite requesting it. They just add a duvet that's not the size of the bed and makes it easy to uncover while you're asleep.
3. The entrance space for guests to park their cars only has 4 or 5 “spaces”. In times of high occupancy, some vehicles have to stay outside the compound.
4. There is no reception at the time of arrival. Traditional keys are collected in a box/mailbox with a numeric padlock, creating a cold and impersonal feeling from the start.
5. Breakfast is limited, with very little variety of products and no essentials such as juice or cold meat. In addition, tables must sometimes be shared with other guests, and Service hours are only 9-10. You can't have breakfast at 8 to make the most of the day.
6. There are no rooms without stairs, which seriously affects the accessibility of people with some kind of physical disability or simply, older people.
All in all, the value for money is disappointing and I regret that I cannot recommend it to anyone who wants to visit this wonderful area paying something that can be considered fair in exchange for what is received (and that is far from luxury).

Superb

The best accommodation to do a route through Las Merindades, from Traspaderne all the sights are handy. Special mention for this accommodation, in a completely renovated palace, with all the comforts and comfortable and cozy common areas. Standard rooms are fine, although you miss hanging hangers in closets. Breakfast with homemade and local products, and the person who runs it is all kindness and cordiality. The best choice for this area.

A fantastic hotel. Very comfortable rooms and excellent public areas and service. Very good breakfast. It has a pool that we couldn't use. Trespaderne is a very nice village, many things to do in the area. I'm sure we'll repeat
