Decent hotel in Velez Malaga

I was attending a wedding in Velez Malaga and was recommended to stay at Hotel Dila by the bride. Firstly, this town doesn't have all that many hotels, but it seems like this one is a good budget hotel, very centrally located. The room was very spacious, clean, and well maintained. Parking can be an issue (if you are driving), but if you drive around you will get something in the back alleys.

Last minute

I had to make a last minute booking here. It was off season, so pretty quiet - so much that it took quite a while before anyone answered the door! The hotel description I saw said there was parking - turns out this is just where you can find it on the streets (somewhere I read it said secure parking, but the guy said no). Room was fine. Clean and comfy. Place has been done up to be more modern, albeit it very budget modern. But, the walls are paper thin and as I was heading off to sleep a noisy Spanish family moved into the room next to mine (when they could have been put in another empty room!) and kept me awake gone 1am. I went down for breakfast - an extra €5 - and didn't bother as it looked fairly slim pickings. Better to get tostada can tomate y cafe from a cafe for €1.90 - or fresh Churros and chocolate!

Lovely hote.l

Easy to find, good location, meets all that we expect of 2 star hotels. Bright room, spotlessly clean. Great hosts at reception who claim to speak "a little" English but whose English is excellent. Only a short walk to a great restaurant, "The Convent." Plenty of free parking in the steets around the hotel. Fair value for its location on the costa. One small issue though. Smoking in hotel rooms is illegal in Spain. Our room had TWO ashtrays for customer's use and smelled slightly of stale cigarette smoke. Why encourage smokers to break the law? Free wifi but dropouts during the evening. Without the cigarette smell this would have rated higher with us.

Delightful hotel

Very clean, well managed hotel. Staff were very helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend. Limited local parking so book ahead if you need it. Rooms were clean, cool and quiet even though it is on the main road.

Hospitable and very clean budget hotel

I have stayed at the Dila twice and both times have enjoyed myself. The hotel and rooms are extremely clean and the price is great.
The free wifi works well; ask for the password at reception.
Great location in Velez-Malaga, but note that Velez is a little way from the beach at Torres.
