An unforgettable weekend in a palace with soul

We recently stayed four couples at the Trasvilla Palace and the experience was simply fantastic.
The place is already special: an 18th century palace restored with great taste, full of history and surrounded by nature in the Pasiego valley. Every corner has something to look at: antique furniture, tapestries, decoration details... everything is taken care of very lovingly and makes you feel like you are traveling to another time.
But if anything makes a difference, it's the deal. Alfredo and Maria José make you feel at home from the get-go. Alfredo is also a true storyteller: listening to him tell the story of the palace, the furniture and each piece is almost like taking a private guided tour. And discovering that many of the pieces of wood have passed into your own hands as a craftsman adds even more value to the place.
The rooms, each with its own name and personality, are beautiful and very comfortable. You can notice that each room has its character, with furniture and unique details.
That weekend it also rained a lot, but far from spoiling the stay, it gave even more charm to the place. Enjoying the palace, the silence of the surroundings and its cozy lounges was a real luxury.
And special mention for breakfast: varied, abundant and of great quality. Of those who invite you to start your day in no hurry.
In short: a place with soul, history and exceptional hospitality. Definitely a place to repeat and recommend.

dogs welcome

we chose this hotel on our way back to santander mainly because it is dog friendly.
was a little hard to find in the dark but we got there without too much trouble.
as soon as we arrived alfredo came out to meet us and the first thing he did after saying hello was to bend down and let our dog off his lead, which put us at ease straight away.
the hotel is a beautifully restored old house, roaring fire in the lounge, kitchen where you can help yourself to drinks and pay when you check out.
we had a room on the upper floor which had a terrace with beautiful views, and a hot tub which we made use of.
there is no restaurant on site so you need to drive to the nearest town for food which is about 10 minutes away.
breakfast was ok, we had tea and toast, croissants , ham and cheese , and various jams. i think that for the price of the room a little hot food would have been nice.
all in all we had a very nice stay and would stay again.

An extremely pleasurable overnight stay in a genuine castle environment with friendly and helpful staff on reception and excellent cuisine. Only regret is that we only stayed one night. Would highly recommend it to discerning fellow travellers.
The directions to the hotel could be improved as it is easy to miss the turn off from the main road (as we did after a long drive!) otherwise highly recommended.

A fairytale hotel

Such a beautiful and unique experience to stay with Alfredo and his small but incredibly friendly and helpful team. Our room was faultless. Although no restaurant, Alfredo pulled together an evening meal for us which was exquisite- we felt very special dining alone in his lovingly restored dining space.
Breakfast was included and was fresh with plenty of choice. We enjoyed the nice touch of a shared ‘kitchen’ space where residents could help themselves to drinks, glasses, ice, coffee etc and simply note down what had been taken to add to the bill.
I enjoyed a swim in the outdoor pool which was also well maintained and clean.
I can not recommend this hotel more enthusiastically... I just wish we had more than 2 nights.
