I stayed there for a night and extended the stay for one more night.
There's a kettle, water, glasses and cups, coffee and tea, a fridge, bottles of shampoo/conditioner and lotion. You can have breakfast on the sixth floor, and there's a great café called Grind nearby. Two supermarkets - Spar and another one - within 5-10 minutes on foot.
The towels had tone cream spots on them, and they don't seem to clean every day (on the second day, i called to ask for some water and toiletries, but only got water). Besides, i heard the noise of the vacuum cleaner in the hall at 9:30 pm - i requested a quiet room and was trying to fall asleep, so that was disappointing.

Good choice.

I had a hard time choosing my accommodation in the city of Colombo and finally I decided on this City Hotel Colombo and I have to say that I think I got it right.
To begin with its location is perfect, very close to Fort which I find one of the most interesting areas of the city and with many interesting places in the surroundings such as local restaurants, a shopping center, promenade areas and some nice temple.
The rooms are quite spacious and air-conditioned. In my case it was all clean, both the sleeping area and the single bathroom.
Yes, it is true that it looks somewhat outdated but I do not think that is a negative point as the facilities seem very good.
On the first contact I noticed a certain smell of damp but nothing serious.
It has a very cozy rooftop with billiards, bar and nice views of the Loto Tower.
I find it a highly recommended option at a very tight price.

Looking for peace amid Colombo’s hustle and bustle

Me and my family stayed there on 10.06.2025 for one night.I was interested in this hotel for several important reasons. So, I though add my review here. Its location in the heart of Colombo city offers very easy access to all the iconic places, shopping malls, and restaurants. The beautiful view of the Colombo Lotus Tower can be directly witnessed from the room. The rooms were very neat, clean, and cozy, all at very fair prices. The hospitality was excellent, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a budget-friendly option without sacrificing comfort.

Never again

Worst experience, please avoid this place if you want a pleasant stay. We asked in the reception to pay at checkout since we had no cash in that moment, they said no prob, but the last day we asked for doing the payment and the reception guy said it was everything ok already, so we thought they finally charged us from our card. The surprise came when after an hour or so we started receiving threatening messages in the phone from the hotel staff. Apart from this, the windows in the room were broken, the towels were dirty and there were many ants. Forget about coming back to the hotel at the end of the day to a tidy room, they don’t clean or make the bed. The hotel is in a dark dead end and the reception and rooms are in different buildings, so you have to go to the street to go from one to another.

Excellent for individuals

Perfect stay for solo travellers .
Location is excellent . Breakfast is good.
All places are nearby .
Infinity pool on terrace is marvellous . Cricket stadium view from room is like cherry on the cake .
