Review of Tabrobane House
My husband and I both work in hospitality, so this review comes from a professional perspective. We stayed at Tabrobane House for four nights after traveling around southern Sri Lanka, as we wanted a comfortable base for shopping and exploring Colombo.
One of the hotel's biggest strengths is its location. It's conveniently close to many restaurants, cafés, and shops, yet tucked away from the main road, providing a peaceful and private atmosphere that is especially suitable for couples. Getting around is easy by tuk-tuk, and Galle Face is only about 15 minutes away. The hotel is small and boutique in style, and it's clear that the team takes on multiple roles to keep operations running smoothly. The staff were consistently friendly, accommodating, and eager to assist with any requests.
The food is another highlight. Meals are prepared fresh, so waiting times can range from 30 to 45 minutes, but the quality makes it worthwhile. We particularly enjoyed the Coconut Pol Roti and the Chicken Power Bowl, both of which are highly recommended. The restaurant menus could benefit from updated printing, and while the newer team members would benefit from additional training, the service remained warm and attentive. The coffee, however, is an area that could use improvement.
Our room was spacious, clean, and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable, and the property overall still feels relatively new. The pillows were a bit too soft for our preference, and the bathrooms would benefit from an exhaust fan for better ventilation. Aside from these minor points, housekeeping standards were consistently good throughout our stay.
Overall, Tabrobane House offers excellent value, a convenient location, warm hospitality, and comfortable accommodations. Value for money is good. With a few refinements, particularly in training, menu presentation, and coffee quality, it has the potential to provide an even stronger guest experience.

Great new hotel
A new hotel (2 years open) in a very good Colombo location - a short walk to the iconic crafts shop Barefoot, Paradise Road Cafe and the home of world-renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa. The hotel’s design throughout is clean and contemporary. Bedrooms are massive - 60 sq.m - and well fitted. Rooftop pool. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

I had an exceptional experience during our stay at this hotel. The level of service was outstanding, and every member of the staff demonstrated remarkable professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail. A hidden gem
Friendly and helpful staff make this stay so enjoyable. Our room was enormous and super comfortable - everything felt effortless. The restaurant has an impressive breakfast menu that is well priced and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this hidden gem of a place - a truly wonderful elegant and simple boutique hotel.
