We stayed in Negombo for four nights, longer than we had anticipated, but we thought it sensible to get nearer to the airport due to COVID lockdown.
The hotel is on the beach, and is peaceful apart from the densely populated crow family.
This must have been a beautiful hotel in its heyday but the building is in need of updating. We stayed in room one, with a ceiling fan which was adequate. Two single divans pushed together with a mosquito net which was comfy enough.
The gardens of this property are tended by a full time gardener and are a delight. There is also a friendly resident dog whom we called Dotty who kept us company, but was not a nuisance.
We have been well cared by three male staff and by the female cook who have provided us with meals and drinks during this period of lockdown which we are eternally grateful.

Silver sands
There are not many facilities and the bathrooms are very dirty. But the surroundings are attractive and the environment is cool. There are mosquitoes and you can get a room at any time you want..........................................

Awful
Sadly the hotel is very run down. Much of the online information is misleading: there is no pool despite one result showing a pool; there is no restaurant (the building is there but food no longer served); sometimes rooms are let out by the hour to young couples; other rooms are let to people who takeover the hotel and treat it as though it were a private house that they had rented - they use kitchen, often leaving it extremely dirty, they take over the restaurant tables; drape their laundry over chairs in the garden and are generally noisy and obtrusive. Standards are now extremely low. The only saving grace is the very helpful staff member who does most of the work from Reception to cleaning. Not somewhere I could ever recommend.

Terrible place
This is a haunted , old and abandoned place. Disturbances- mosquitoes, very poor facilities. Terrible bathroom. Never go this place. The place is already ruined. Though it is closer to the beach this is not a place which is value for your money. Only one caretaker is there just to open the door.

Rooms in need of renovation & ok for what you pay
If you look for a place near the airport and at the beach, this is an option if you don‘t mind simple rooms. The hotel is a nice old buildung, but the rooms need renovation. Ok for one night. Price ok for what you get. A restaurant is attached where you can get good rice & curry and where you can enjoy a sunset drink.
