On The Way To The Airport!

Unfortunately I spent a very short time at the Lespri Grand. I had booked a one night stay but had to leave in a few hours due to my change in schedule. I was rather sad that I wasn't able to spend the full day at this very lovely property. The welcome and assistance provided by Bernard on my arrival was really very pleasant and warm. The property is a bit small with nine rooms (I think) however the ambience, the food and everything about it is welcoming. It's a colonial style property, the rooms the bathrooms are very well laid out and have a great warm feel. It also has a private sit out area that can be accessed from the room or the bathroom. There are a few mosquitoes but Bernard was the first to advise and also provided repellant. They also have a free pick up OR drop to the airport. For that old style quiet retreat this seems to be the place.

Bad service.

Although this hotel looked lovely and had great reviews we had an extremely bad experience.
We had chosen to stay here for our last night, to have somewhere nice and close to the airport. The reviews sounded promising.
Anyhow at our arrival, they said that the family room we had booked through booking.com had been double booked. So instead of them giving us two rooms, they wanted us to pay extra for another room. We totally understand that the mistake could have been made by booking.com and not by the hotel but I think a hotel needs to take responsibility for this kind of thing (especially when they are not busy and have the space). For 1,5h my husband was trying to sort the issue but the staff would not budge. We wouldn't have been there to have breakfast due to early flight and we would have spent a generous amount on dinner (2 adults and 3 kids). So after 3h drive to the hotel, nearly 2h of arguing at the reception and waiting, we had to in the end CHANGE HOTEL with our 3 tired small children for a mistake that had nothing to do with us. Totally unacceptable in my opinion!!
I hope the hotel learns from this experience and will in the future take responsibility for this kind of issues. I am sure they can get compensation from booking.com for a double booking and would find value of treating customers well.

Tranquil spot to stay near the airport

We stayed at Lespri on the night arriving to Sri Lanka and on the night before leaving. Despite being close to busy roads the hotel is tranquil and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool and garden area was very pretty and relaxing. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Meals were delicious as well. Complimentary airport transfer was very handy. We also enjoyed watching the gorgeous traditional Indian wedding party have photos taken on the grounds. Good value.

VERY friendly warm welcome, pool, food, a bit dated

Checked in about 2pm. Warm friendly welcome, served a bit of complimentary rice cake while waiting for room to be ready. Was ready 15 minutes later.
Decent pool area, lounge chairs are frayed and in need of replacing as are the chair pads & pool towels.
Room was clean, bed comfy, AC worked well & wasn't noisy. Nice ceiling fan as well.
Dinner was tasty and quite reasonable, 500 SLR for a bowl of curry, many different kinds to choose from.
Excellent stay for a day being so close to the airport, complimentary transportation provided.

The perfect way to start your travels in Sri Lanka

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Lespri Grand. After flying into Colombo at 1am the complimentary transfer was appreciated, and then to wake up to the tropical sanctuary with breakfast overlooking the pool was the perfect way to start our travels to Sri Lanka. Kumar and the staff were very friendly and helpful - a must stay when you’re in Negombo or arriving into the country.
