Simple but with good room

We sought affordable accommodation in Motala for one night and chose Motala Värdshus, a historic establishment on "Verkstadsön" with the Göta Canal right outside our door. The building was built in 1828 as staff accommodation by Motala Verkstad and later came to be used as a representational apartment. The building remained in the company’s possession for a long time before being sold to a purely restaurant and hotel business in 2000. Today’s owners run the inn since 2018 with four apartments and six rooms. Outside there is a large car park and a hint of garden.
We checked in via a key box and found on our own our twin room on the second floor, simple but clean, bright and with a newly renovated bathroom. The rest of the premises show an ongoing renovation where conference rooms and dining room are slightly worn while the kitchen is modern and open for self-catering. Breakfast was picked up in the dining room and was quite sufficient with bread, spreads, coffee/tea, filet, cereal and juice. Overall, the inn met my expectations with good pricing and I would consider staying here again.
Note: The property now calls itself World House 1 in Motala.

Single night with family

In relation to the price there is a lot for the money.
The host was absolutely incredibly service minded.
There were some problems with the heat regulation of the shower in our room. But the double bed was new and really good.
