Fantastic time

Great hotel! We had booked through Weekendjeweg and the description was “simple breakfast and soup lunch”. It was anything but simple. Choice over. Everything fresh and really delicious. Dinner was not much but also does not have to be in the evening. Staff were great. Super friendly, helpful. All young people who clearly enjoy their work. The beds are lovely and the activities are also nothing short of top! In the general areas you can have your own drinks and snacks which I found quite special. The music in the hotel is also very nice. Nice lounging. Never had good music in a hotel. Cozy seats and on the lake in front of the hotel you can spot the northern lights. Only point, very little space is m to store your clothes. Especially if you have the hotel's overgarments and shoes. Thank you so much for the great stay. It has been an unforgettable long weekend!

One week in July 2026 room 110

Hello want to share with you this year's experience your hotel. This is the second year I have visited you for a longer stay. Checked in on July 14th and will check out on the 23rd. First the positive, the location absolutely fantastic, the check-in worked well, although we had late check-in. Room clean and tidy. No problem. Breakfast really good. You'll last a day on it. Now the little negative. Door openers to the front door, especially for disabled people and families with children, which we called for last year were not installed. It should have been done, they said last year. The toilet paper beneath contempt. No sensible master key to our room when you forget the key. The door lock to the balcony hung on three quarters of an hour. Otherwise, it worked well ok.

When you finally can’t be bothered to say the wrong thing…

The staff does not speak Swedish here.
Restaurant: Moose recot for almost 400 SEK. One small detail was that they did not have any moose meat, but served beef. For the same price!!
Salmon plate: Someone dropped the salt shaker in their food. When we remarked on the poor quality, we were compensated with 2 strawberry and 1 rhubarb desserts. Did we get it? No. 1 strawberry and 2 rhubarb. The waiter excused that the chef cooked for 40 people that day….but not why it took 45 minutes to get the food and that we first got the food to another table. Luckily we didn't have time to start eating it.
The bar offers signature drinks. Cloudberry liqueur in the drink? Sorry, we don't, but we have blueberries. 35 minutes of confusion at the bartender who did not understand the drink list in Swedish. A Gin&Tonic took only 10 minutes, however, we had to point out that fresh lemon is not in the bag of dried lime.
Are moose meat and cloudberries really that hard to find in Norrbotten??
Rooms: pope equipped but works.
Outdoor Jacuzzi: book at reception, pay 800 SEK plus 100 SEK/person for one hour.
No, if they're going to keep that price level, they'll have to get their bearings.

Run away! Lamentable hotel!

Run away!
Lamentable hotel!
Dirty rooms, cleaning is never done, beds are never done, no housekeeping during the week stay.
Meals more than bad and limited quantity. We are asked to leave the restaurant after 45 minutes of presence.

Incredible winter activities and great guides

We had a wonderful stay at Grand Arctic Resort in Överkalix. The food was very good throughout the week, and all the activities were extremely well organized.
Each activity started with a clear and helpful explanation, which made the experiences both enjoyable and safe.
A special thanks to our guide Lamia, who was absolutely fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, and made every activity even more enjoyable.
Our favorite activities were the snowmobile tour, the husky sledding, and the ice karting. All of them were unforgettable experiences. The staff was also very friendly and helpful during the entire week, which made the stay even more pleasant.
Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend Grand Arctic Resort to anyone looking for an amazing winter adventure in Lapland.
