Perfect location in the city of Söderköping, good beds Carpe Diem , somewhat worn in rooms etc

Good visit with improvement areas
We four ladies on the road trip spent four nights here and on the whole we were very pleased with the atmosphere and conviviality. We had a family room, two nice beds and two very hard extra beds. Maybe with hindsight we should have taken two double rooms. Other than that, the room was okay, but got a little warm. Nice staff at reception but they didn't seem completely updated and interacted (can you drink the well water - or not?, what kind of sister hotel is in Italy?). When it comes to the breakfast buffet, we have a lot to work on for us gluten-intolerant. Could the person in charge of breakfast make sure that everything even all toppings, such as liver pate, is gluten-free at the buffet. You want to feel safe, to eat wrong can quickly ruin the holiday for us who are intolerant. It’s also remarkable that there are all sorts of goodies (danish, croissants, pancakes) for the “normal”, but only a few dry cookies for those who are gluten intolerant. And this in Söderköping where there is a gluten-free bakery a stone's throw away, which bakes Danish bread etc. How hard can it be?

Carpeted floor....Yuck!
Nice environment and good breakfast! But, why carpeting? Especially in dog rooms!? So 70's and unfresh! And, stingy, two worn-down glasses, normally you get two for bathrooms and two for drinking. We could have gotten new ones when both were used for toothbrushes...

Afraid to shower
We have recently checked in late at this hotel and are very unhappy. The description of the hotel says that there is parking... BUT not that it is subject to availability. We had to park on a street far from the hotel and drag our luggage all the way back. When I raised this with the hotel reception about the inadequate information, I was poorly treated. When we enter the room we find a floor lamp as the only working light in the bathroom. In the sink are parts of the luminaire for the lighting. Replacement of the fluorescent lamps has begun but has not been completed. Instead, this floor lamp with insufficient light is in the bathroom. The security of this arrangement could also be considered. An ungrounded plug in a grounded socket in a wet room... On top of this, the toothbrush lenses were dirty. See attached pictures. We were offered spa tickets as compensation because they did not have available rooms. Since we arrived late and will leave early the next morning, this was not an option for us. None of the representatives, hotel staff or Hotels.com have offered us any compensation beyond the one we were unable to use. Hotels.com is not reachable to a natural person as their customer service is only an AI voice. I will never use any of these again and recommend everyone to do the same.

A very nice hotel in a picturesque location, plenty of character, very good breakfast, but it was pricey compared to other hotels of similar standard that we stayed in sweden, and they also charged extra for the spa and pool etc.
