Laholmen – what has happened? After countless visits, this will be our last.

We have stayed at Laholmen countless times over the years and always enjoyed coming back. That is why it is particularly sad to note that the hotel, in our experience, has begun to sing properly. This stay was unfortunately the last straw.
We traveled with dogs and therefore got a dog room, which is quite in order. But I find it very difficult to understand how you can choose carpeted floors in a room designed for guests with dogs. Even worse was the condition of the carpet in our room. It was so unfresh that in several places it looked like old, dried-up vomit stains that sat deep down in the fibers. It gave hardly any sense of hygiene or thorough cleaning.
A patterned carpet in a dog room also feels directly inappropriate. Not all dogs are 100% house-clean, especially if left alone in a foreign environment. An old urine stain could easily be hidden by both the color and pattern of the carpet. This is not a very pleasant idea when you are going to walk barefoot or leave your dog lying on the floor.
As if that wasn’t enough, the air conditioning made noise during the night. It gurgled and sounded so much that night sleep was disturbed.
At check-out I told the reception about the problems. Since it was my husband’s birthday, we had enjoyed the little extra luxury of having breakfast served in the room. I had a quiet hope that the hotel, having been told about the condition of the room and a disturbed night's sleep, might at least offer it as a small gesture of goodwill.
No.
What disappointed me most was not even that we were not compensated. That was the response. Instead of feeling that our criticisms were taken seriously, I experienced a giggly and nonchalant treatment behind the reception desk. As a long-standing recurring guest, it is a strange way to be treated when you make justified criticisms about a room you have paid for.
Hotels can have bad days. Technical errors may occur. A room may need to be fixed. What determines whether the guest comes back is how the hotel handles it. There Laholmen failed completely this time.
So after countless stays over the years, it actually feels sad to write this:
Thank you for your time, Laholmen. But you have now seen us as guests for the last time.

We would stay in Strømstad and booked at Laholmen hotel which we knew and is located by the harbor, but was disappointed when the view from the room was many trees, and when I asked in the reception, this room was the best they had left. We had booked rooms 3-4 days in advance

No big experience.

All right hotel and popular hotel. Perfectly fine room but the bathroom needs refurbishment. Really nasty shower. Could not shower ig very happy we had only booked one night.
