This property is beautifully located in the centre of Trollhättan, by the canal waterfront. Scandic Swania was built in the early 1900s as a city hall. Original ceiling paintings from that time still exist.

Great location by the river in Trollhättan--
Very good selection at breakfast - also had one extra buffet area (maybe when a lot of people at the hotel) in the left in the breakfast hall with the main orders, bread etc.
Nice view to the river from the breakfast hall.
We had rooms with views of the river and could look at boats that had just locked up.
We borrowed bicycles at the hotel, and cycled down to the slus cafe (about 10 minutes by bicycle) - and had the famous giant rake butterbread there.
The beach street in front of the hotel towards the river I would like to draw forward - where the canal boat also stops (a trip of about 3 hours)
Can also walk over to 3 small islands right by, which are connected by 3 small bridges.
Very cozy restaurant there too.
We parked the car in Mercury's parking lot. It costs 220,- per day via Scandic.

Great hotel

We stayed at the hotel for two nights on our trip along the west coast of Sweden. Trollhättan was a nice stop on the road. Superb hotel with good standard and good service. We got our bikes in the trunk. There was parking in the car park right next door (dog a bit expensive). We got rooms without air conditioning, so it pulls down a bit. The pool is small, but we had it for ourselves both times we used it. Breakfast is super, but recommend going early or late because it is quite busy. Very nice to do for kids with small playroom, shuffleboard, table tennis and free drink in the bar. Recommended!

Breakfast with problems

It is a great hotel with a nice lobby and very helpful staff. Parking is possible on the street for a low fare. The rooms are clean and the hotel is quiet at night. The low rating of 3 is because there was a foreign object in my bacon at the breakfast. It looked like plastic. I mentioned it to the staff and they told me it is from the dishwasher - it seemed that they were not surprised. I found another pice of platic again and so I skipped some of the breakfast.

Great stay at Scandic Swania!

We had a fantastic stay at Scandic Swania in Trollhättan! Our room was huge and clean, the beds were incredibly good, and the service was absolutely top. It was a big plus that we had our dog with us. The breakfast was also great, with incredibly nice people and good service in the breakfast room!
​The only thing that pulls a little down, is that we missed free coffee available. We also understand that the short-term parking in front of the hotel is enforced by the municipality, but the hotel should have a better dialogue with them so that the seats are actually available for guests to carry luggage.
​This is a fantastic hotel that we will definitely recommend to others and we will be more than happy to return!

Had expected a little more

Stayed at Scandic Swania during the weekend when it was the Fall Days that is a kind of city festival. The hotel was fully booked, which was clearly noticeable at breakfast, despite Tuesday booking for sittings, it was noisy and not so cozy. The staff at breakfast did what they could but could but when some things ran out they could not refill as the staff said it was over and then we ate already at 8.15 and breakfast closed at 10.30. So it felt like that.
Good breakfast. Quite ok lactose, vegan and gluten-free options too.
The rooms had comfortable beds, but very responsive and the neighbors were talking until 3 in the morning so it was a bit tiring.
The cleaning can be tightened up a bit more, found gum in the bed and toy under the armchair from previous guest.
I don't have a kettle and coffee in my room, thought it was standard in this class.
Refrigerator had also given plus in the edge,
No ac in the room which made it very hot, but luckily there was opening window and a table fan.
Silverfish occur in the room, so be a bit obsessive so you do not get anyone home.
The location is great.
Recommends not to book parking through the hotel but to look at nearby streets. Despite a weekend of events in the city, we could fit a stone's throw from the hotel and stood almost free.
