Nice turn of the century hotel in the middle of Uppsala

Amazingly cozy, personal hotel in the middle of Uppsala. A history in the house that is fondly cherished. Nice rooms for breakfast and possibly bar hang out. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Uppsala, Sweden’s Charming Grand Hotell Hörnan

A great place to stay when visiting Uppsala, Sweden, is the Grand Hotel Hörnan located just a 5 minute walk from the Uppsala train and bus station. The hotel is located on the banks of the Fyrisån (Fyris) River with views of the nearby Uppsala Cathedral, Castle and old town. The hotel offers beautifully refurbished and spacious rooms, a good breakfast buffet with fresh breads and hot and cold items, and a terrific bar with a good selection of wine, beer, and cocktails. If budgets permit, select the mini-suites located in the rounded corner rooms of the hotel — they are particularly comfortable with plenty of windows and a French doors onto a small balcony all looking onto Fyrisån River. Be sure to check out the Viking-era runestones along the side of the Uppsala Cathedral.

Location wonderfully near the train station and in the center of Uppsala. The place has character, altough somewhat dated. Room was spacious and nice. Breakfast was good although not outstanding. Solid 4 out of 5 and no complaints.

I usually enjoy complaining. This time I'm at a loss.

We chose this hotel because the online photos looked nice. It turned out to be even better than expected.
Our comfortable room (3127) had a great view to the cathedral and the canal. The building from 1907(?) was beautiful both outside and in.
We loved the interior of the bar behind the reception, and especially enjoyed an early evening hour when we had the friendly bartenderess and the reception guy to ourselves, designing non-alcoholic drinks and joking.
The breakfast room is pleasant, and the staff are friendly and efficient.
The lift/elevator is slow, but the staircase is beautiful.
With an open window, we could the gardening people work, but in this street, there's mainly bikes. And quiet.
I usually enjoy complaining, but this time I'm at a loss. Tack så mycke! I'll be back.

Room with a View

Wow - we were able to check in early after a long overnight flight and it made such a difference. The room was beautiful and had a great view. Staff was outstanding and so was the breakfast.
