Nice hotel with good restaurant in front of the Untertor Altstätten

Very friendly restaurant and hotel. Very centrally located with enough parking. The room was clean and simply furnished. The bathroom was newly renovated and very modern. Our dinner was very delicious and rich. The chef personally came to our table to ask for our satisfaction. Breakfast buffet in the morning was sufficient. I really enjoyed our stay.

Location and food good, breakfast flop....

The food in the restaurant was very good, the waitress had her first day and was very trying. The rooms are a bit old but clean and thus fine. Breakfast is rather disappointing. No rolls or cakes, no side dishes such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, no scrambled eggs, no Ham and Eggs etc. There is an urgent need for improvement.

Never again

The rooms are very old and in urgent need of an adaptation to the current state. Internet is not available despite WiFi. The food in the restaurant is ok, but the staff unfortunately a disaster. The service was very unfriendly and absolutely overwhelmed as she was alone. When we approached her about it, she just said to contact the boss, it would be normal here. Too bad, but there are luckily other hotels in Altstätten

How can they survive

It seems that they are cutting back on staff. The waitress first brought all the plates without the side dishes. Only when all the plates with the meat had been placed did the first side dishes come. As there was only one waitress for us, it took so long that in the meantime the meat and the sauces were already cold. The quality was also anything but satisfactory. I ordered trout Müllerinnen style. And until that day I didn't know that my trout Müllerinnen style came out of the deep fryer! I will certainly never eat in this restaurant again.

Food very good. Service inadequate.

The food and wine were very good. The creamed spinach was one of the best. The prices were reasonable.
But the service was not attentive and could be improved. We waited at the table for a quarter of an hour and had to actively make ourselves known. The same thing happened with the bill.
