Rooms are small, but fair. No A/C. That was a minus.

Hotel position is very very nice, directly on Rhein riverside. And we got a room upgrade for a riverside balcony double room. But for being a 4-star hotel it has also some pretty obvious weaknesses: no air conditioning in the room and very weak elsewhere in the lobby - a fan was placed on a chair in the room, but it just moves hot air around and doesn't give much of a relief. Breakfast buffet also quite unsatisfactory compared to other similar hotels, and very expensive at 25 CHF per person (almost 30EUR...): no croissant/bakery goods (e.g. a cake, a pain au chocolat or whatsoever...), the scrambled eggs were very cold as the container was not heated, choice of grains for yoghurt/milk not too big...
Not what you'd expect for such a hotel in such beautiful location.
Also on the day of arrival there was a wedding ceremony in the internal restaurant and no available parking space in the garage, nothing against it but could have been informed upfront to the travelers so that we could arrange a parking earlier. All in all not a good value for money in my opinion.

I chose this hotel because I was visiting Basel for a business trip to Messe Basel.
The facilities are very clean, and in particular, the elevator made it very easy to move my luggage. In the lobby, there is a lounge with a view of the Rhine River, which makes it a great place to work. There is also a café and bar, so it is especially nice to work while enjoying a coffee.
Smoking is allowed, and the location is excellent: it is only a 1-minute walk to the Rhine riverside and a 1-minute walk to the tram station, making it very convenient to get around Basel. In particular, Coop, Lidl, and MANOR are all located within a 2-minute walk, so the hotel is truly in the best location.
The bed is comfortable, and the bedding is especially well maintained. The bathroom is clean, and the water pressure is also good.
I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Basel. The front desk staff are especially kind and welcoming.
It was an honor to be the first Korean guest to stay at this hotel, and I would like to express my sincere respect and appreciation for the kindness of the front desk staff.
If you need water, you can ask at the front desk and choose between still water and sparkling water, so don’t be surprised if there is no refrigerator in the room. :)

The location is excellent, close to Basel's landmark Midbridge. Choose a room with a view of the Rhine and open the window to see the passing vehicles and pedestrians on the bridge. There is also a gingerbread specialty store next to the hotel, which is super convenient to buy souvenirs.
