Holy Week at Casa Caminada

Taking advantage of Easter week, we decided to get away for a Michelin-starred dinner at Restaurant Oz (you can find my comments in another review). The place is truly charming, preserving the beauty of traditional Alpine houses with exposed wooden beams and stone exteriors, but tastefully combined with a very modern renovation. There's a lovely corner with a fireplace, a cozy breakfast area, and we had a deluxe room with a terrace and direct views of the Alps. It was beautiful, with a bathtub, wooden beams, and a comfortable mattress. The only downside, in my opinion, was the pillows—very soft and lacking firmness. The price of the night includes breakfast, a delicious and plentiful breakfast with top-quality bread. They cook eggs (we ordered a French omelet, which was very tasty), and the cold cuts and cheeses were superb. The star of the show was undoubtedly their croissants and pain au chocolat,a puff pastry with a thousand layers, crispy and perfect. In my opinion, it's worth every penny for the night's stay, and we hope to return.

SMALL SHELTER

After staying some time ago in schloss we decided to try the more informal Caminada house! Haven of peace and relaxation..... minimal and modern rooms, smiling and helpful staff and great breakfast. A cure-all for the soul

Relaxing stay in the Swiss Countryside!

I stayed her for 2 nights with my wife and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is based in the small town of Fürstenau which is the smallest city in the world.
- Design: The hotel has a chic Swiss design. The bedrooms are built on themes of simplicity and minimalism. You won't find a minibar or fancy furniture but there is a lovely design and feel to the rooms.
- Room: We stayed in the "Family Plus" room which was spread over 2 floors and had 2 bathrooms (1 with a shower). The room was spacious and had a lovely balcony.
- Service: Overall, the service was welcoming, friendly and helpful.
- Food: We had breakfast and dinner at this hotel and all of the food was delicious! I found the dinner in particular to be great with plenty of options. The hotel prides themselves on serving food from local producers. The hotel also did a great job catering towards my gluten allergy!
- Tips: Check out the little shop in the hotel, it has some really unique foods!
Also, try to go to the (Michelin Star) Schloss Schauenstein restaurant -- we went for dinner there and it was absolutely fantastic!

Beautiful hotel, great food!

I booked this hotel after reading a review in CN. We didn't have a car (although it would have been more convenient to have one), so we arrived via train/bus. The bus arrives every hour, so be sure to plan you next day the day before. We were in room 5 and loved it--excellent view. We stayed for two nights, ate at the restaurant for dinner both nights. We had the tasting menu the first night, the tasting menu didn't change the second night, so we ordered a variety of things off of the a la carte menu the second night. Breakfast was great and included (buffet--charcuterie, egg, bread, made to order coffee, juice, etc). All of the food is local. There is a fireplace/lounge area for guests to enjoy, which we used. Overall, very relaxing stay.
Negatives: Bathroom walls looked a bit dirty/aged (cracks on the wall), which is odd for such a new hotel--the rest of the room looked great. Corkage fee was a bit high 35 CHF (not sure if that is typical for Switzerland or not).

Rustic Chic and Swiss

I can highly recommend this property in Fürstenau, which calls itself the smallest city in the world. The hotel offers stylishly rustic, yet modern accommodations. The rooms are simple, but stylish. We stayed in room 9 which is on the corner of the building with two balconies. The orange tile bathroom is an odd choice, but it’s cheery in the morning.
The hotel also features a restaurant serving up tasty local food, including pasta with cheese and mushrooms and locally caught fish. I was particularly impressed by the bread, which is made on site and they even roast their own coffee beans. For adventurers, there is a nearby 10,000 year old gorge and if you want to spoil yourself you are steps away from a three-star Michelin restaurant.
