Excellent service from really nice staff and wonderful location

Hotel Sonnenberg is in a wonderful location, with panoramic views of the Swiss Alps. The hotel has immediate access to many walking trails. The welcome and service are excellent, as is the restaurant for breakfast and all other meals, as desired. We have stayed at this hotel many times and it always feels like home.

Beware! Only book if driving

Think carefully before booking! This is not a hotel, it is a room with no food or drink or n the building or anywhere nearby. We arrived at 17.30. Our room key was left in a key box outside the building. There were no staff at all and after a long day of travelling there was no food or drink. We had a google and there is a restaurant a 15 minute walk away but that was closed. We tried to get an uber to somewhere but none would come. We walked 1 hour to a beautiful restaurant. Be warned if you are not in a car it is a 50 minute STEEP walk to anywhere. There are no facilities in the rooms to store or make your own food (not that you would in a proper hotel). There is a cable car up to the hotel but that only runs 10-17.00
Hotel is in a beautiful setting but only book if you are driving
Also we booked a balcony room but never got that but no staff to discuss this with!

A bit of commute to the property if you on your feet but the views are worth it. Room was clean, views from balcony were amazing, breakfast was a top notch! Staff was very friendly and left me the option for self check in. Our best stay in Lucern!

Bask in the fresh mountain air

We couldn’t pass up the Mountain View’s of this hotel during our hike. We had a cappuccino and enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine. Realizing this hotel had a 200+ year history made it a special spot to visit. Next time we will get a room. Take a break and bask in the fresh air
