A modern and very comfortable hotel with great amenities. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous and even assisted with outside transportation needs. Strongly recommend this hotel when in the Zurich area!

Cancellation notice 2 weeks before a previously confirmed booking.

After I booked the hotel on April 26 and the stay was confirmed, I received a cancellation notice 2 weeks before the booking date due to alleged overbooking because of a system error. Something seems to be quite off here.
In 2023, I was very satisfied with this hotel; apparently, the circumstances are now different.

Perhaps most important: the room description is inaccurate. It says there is a hob/stove in the room and there is not. Nor is there a fridge. The room was large, which was nice, but only one chair for a two-person room and only one hanger in the closet. No hooks for coats. They use perfumed detergent or dryer sheets so all linens have a strong smell. Since I'm not used to this it made it difficult for me to fall asleep. There is extensive construction going on courtyard side, and as of Jan. 2026 they were only working on the basement; there was a fair amount of noise during work hours (about 7:00-17:00).

Nothing extra, but why the low ratings?

Honestly, it was completely fine. We don't know what people expect when reserving a place so extremely close to the train station, but our family consisting of the two of us, plus our 3-year-old son and our large breed dog fully enjoyed our stay at Work Life Residence.
Yes, the breakfast was quite average and just OK, the room could've benefited from more natural light, but not too bad.
What made up for these though was the amazing staff. The two who ran both the reception and the breakfast area were just great. We would like to commend them on their patience, kindness, understanding. Just simply wonderful. We wish we can meet more people like them in our journeys.
So, long story short - 4/5, a good option in Winterthur.
