Great hotel with a very good price-performance ratio

The location of the hotel directly on the ocean with fantastic views of the kite surfers is unique. It is also in a very quiet location and the service is great and the food also tastes very good and all at a good price. The hotel manager also takes care of personal concerns immediately.

Serious management issues and rude owner

This place is now called 1Zi hotel and beach bar. Do not make the same mistake as us and stay here. It looks beautiful but has some big problems. The air conditioning in our ‘deluxe suite’ didn’t work the whole time, there are frequent power outages and they have no back up, the rooms are not finished properly - leaking boiler, curtains don’t fit the window, falling plaster, shorted sockets, missing furniture, lack of promised toiletries and bottled water.
We tried to talk to the owner and ask for a discount for the lack of air conditioning and he flatly refused stating he’d already reduced the listing price so we should be grateful! He then went on to reprimand his staff in front of us for taking 40 minutes to bring breakfast. He then accused us of being the sort of people who complain all the time and intimidated us into paying full price despite the numerous problems.
The staff are very nice but there are clearly some very serious management issues - stay well away.

The hotel is OK. If you shower everything is going to get wet in the bathroom. Very varying access to electricity. The food was good and service was good. But a man that said he owned the place kept smoking marijuana outside our window, so that was very uncomfortable. It smells a lot and he would not stop even though we asked nicely.

Amazing place to stay

We totally enjoyed our stay at the White Star Ocean View Hotel. From the first minute until our departure we were amazed by the unique view of the ocean and the lovely and natural arranged hotel terrain. The staff was incredibly friendly and courteous and provided individual services. Another highlight was the very great breakfast with an amazing ocean view every morning. This is definitely a place to recommend.

Bei unserer Ankunft erhielten wir nicht das gebuchte Zimmer. Nach einer Beschwerde bekamen wir es schließlich. Das Zimmer roch unangenehm, der Kleiderschrank bot kaum Platz für Kleidung. Es gab keinen Kühlschrank, und wie in anderen Hotels auf der Insel bekamen wir nur zwei kleine Flaschen Wasser pro Tag! Im Badezimmer fehlte ein Spiegel, es gab nur einen Stuhl, und die Matratze war vermutlich von Flöhen befallen, denn wir juckten uns ständig – und das nicht wegen Mücken! Wir baten um einen Wäscheservice, für den wir extra bezahlen mussten (was an sich kein Problem war), aber einige Kleidungsstücke waren verschwunden! Ich hatte zweimal ausdrücklich darum gebeten, dass das Frühstück pünktlich fertig ist und dafür im Voraus Trinkgeld gegeben (wir unternahmen täglich Ausflüge, und das Auto kam pünktlich zur Abholung). Trotzdem wurde es weder pünktlich noch innerhalb der von mir eingeräumten halben Stunde Kulanzzeit serviert. Es gab lediglich eine Schüssel Frühstück ohne jegliche Extras – ein wirklich sehr schlechtes Frühstück, das eines Hotels nicht würdig ist. Insgesamt ist die Lage zwar gut für Spaziergänge, aber ich kann das Hotel absolut nicht empfehlen, da es in der Gegend für diesen Preis deutlich bessere Alternativen gibt.
