The Only Company I Would Trust for Kilimanjaro – 8-Day Lemosho Summit Success
My best friend from college and I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro via the 8-day Lemosho Route with Hotel Marangu, and we both successfully summited. I can say with complete confidence: this is the only company I would trust for this experience.
From the moment we landed, everything was seamless. Hotel Marangu handled all airport transfers, transport to the mountain, and even rides into town if we wanted to explore the Marangu area. The hotel grounds are beautiful, peaceful gardens where you can see Kilimanjaro from the lawn — the perfect place to mentally prepare before the climb and recover afterward. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and always stocked with drinks and snacks upon arrival.
What truly sets them apart is that they are a family-run operation — from administration to guides to cooks and porters. It creates an incredibly personal and intentional experience.
Because it was just the two of us climbing, we had a private team of 14: two guides, a chef, a waiter, and an amazing group of porters. Their professionalism was exceptional. Our guides constantly monitored our health, checked in throughout the day, and held nightly briefings at dinner to prepare us for the next stage. They paced us perfectly for altitude acclimatization, and their encouragement on summit night made all the difference.
The food on the mountain exceeded expectations, the camps were always ready when we arrived, and the logistics were flawless. We even made friends with another couple climbing through the hotel and camped near them — adding to the community feeling.
One of the most impressive details: Hotel Marangu has a fully stocked climbing gear room where you can borrow equipment for free. They also had someone review our gear before departure to make sure we weren’t missing anything. That level of preparation is invaluable.
After we summited and returned to the hotel, the team welcomed us back with an emotional celebration at the hotel bar. After a much-needed shower, they sang to us and thanked us for being part of their team. It was one of the most meaningful moments of the entire journey.
They even helped organize the tipping process thoughtfully. We hadn’t brought enough cash, and they prepared all tip envelopes so we could properly thank our team during the celebration. It was seamless and respectful.
Climbing Kilimanjaro is physically demanding and emotionally intense. Choosing the right operator matters more than anything. Hotel Marangu is organized, experienced, supportive, and deeply invested in your success.
If you are considering Kilimanjaro — especially the Lemosho Route — book with them. You will feel safe, prepared, and genuinely cared for.

Moshi Marangu Hotel is excellent.
Semi detached quiet rooms with western shower and a real bath to soak in. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Easy walk to separate bar or to dining room near reception. Food is excellent as is hot "English" breakfast. Staff are very helpful and polite. Plenty of Power Points and rooms have full insect screens on windows. I would stay here again.

A family that takes care of our family
2nd visit to this hotel. Always excellent service and family attention to its guests. 1 of the 5 members of our group was not able to go to the summit in Kili. A guide and porter were mobilized to get him down quickly and accompanied him to the hotel where the staff was in little care.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro by Rongai/Marangu Route
My brother-in-law and I used the services of the Marangu Hotel to hike up Mount Kilimanjaro on the Rongai/Marangu route. The support of the hotel in providing 2 guides, 2 cooks and 8 porters was excellent. The food was marvellous, the tented accommodation comfortable and the guides very experienced. I have no hesitation in recommending them for hikes up Mount Kilimanjaro.
