Friendly helpful staff, convenient location

When we arrived, we had a minor problem with our reservation, but it was quickly resolved. We were soon settled into our comfortable and spacious room. It was very clean and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is not on the waterfront, but w found it convenient to everything we wanted to doWe would definitely stay there again if we return to Tonga

Friendly, comfortable hotel

This is a small, friendly, comfortable family-run hotel, close to the centre of Nuku'alofa. The room was large, clean and comfortable. There was a balcony that looked over the street that was pleasant to sit on. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast each morning in the dining room downstairs was good. The wifi worked for me and I was able to access my organisation's VPN. The hotel was quiet, they stored my luggage for me securely on the day I left until I was ready to go to the airport, and they arranged transport for me to the airport. I'd certainly stay here again.

Not safe for a solo female traveler

I arrived from NZ around midnight. No one was there to pick me up, an important reason why I picked the hotel. After an hour I gave up. Terrified and alone in a foreign country after midnight, I paid a seemingly kind woman too much money to drive me to the hotel.
When I arrived she asked me it was even a hotel since no one was there. The reception was empty. No staff anywhere and now it’s close to 2 am. the kind lady managed to find someone wandering around who let me into my room. I was the only guest and i barricaded the door.
There was no staff anywhere the following day. I gave up and left, paid for 2 nights but only stayed one. I double paid for the second night because I had zero faith anyone would help me get to the airport for an early flight to V’avau. Booking the hotel was a huge mistake. I spent my one day in Nukukalofa just trying to figure out how to get help and get back to the airport. A total waste of time, energy, stress, and money.
NB The capital is a ghost town on Sundays. It was hard to find even food.

Expect to be disappointed

The rooms are not clean the toilet seat is still broken as you might see in other reviews. when it rains the room will flood. Good luck trying to get the staff to do any room service. Breakfast, if it even happens is bread with an egg and the little take away type shop where it is served is filthy. There is a fridge and microwave but no cutlery or plates or anything like that On my second last day I went to check why the payment had not been taken on the card provided on booking and was told to draw cash I told the staff that I would need to wire cash to my credit card so that I could draw it as my debit card does not work here, and would sort it out the following day BEFORE I CHECK OUT. They suddenly decide they wanted cash that evening and wanted to take my passport away until I had paid them, I refused to hand over my passport naturally being in a foreign country. I asked the staff to get the owner to call me as they would not give me her number. When she called I told her that I would be able to draw the money the following day, no problem but when bringing some of my complaints to her attention she completely lost it started screaming at me and called the police. I explained to the police that I would draw the money the following morning and pay them I even asked the staff at this moment if they would like to try swipe my card but they refused, they were adamant about taking my passport from me. There is a constant flow of traffic directly outside the room and during the day the staff will be making noise. If you are here on a Sunday there will be no staff, where other hotels nearby do provide service on a Sunday as it is legal for a business with accommodations to work in the kingdom of Tonga.
My advice is stay elsewhere or you will be disappointed!

Worst Hotel Ever

I booked this accommodation for one week my partner on Booking.com. They accepted my card for payment when booking. I contacted them via email confirming that I was paying for the reservation with the card given at booking and that my partner would not need to pay.
The accommodation advertised breakfast included. Breakfast was either not available at all or only served at whatever time someone decided to show up with no notice of when that might be. He was told breakfast started at 0830. He came down at 0900 and was told he was too late. The next morning he was there at 0830 and no one showed up until nearly 10. When he did get breakfast it was terrible. There was no hot water. The television did not work and was not fixed until just before leaving. The establishment flooded and no one did anything about it. He had to wade through water to get to his room. The place was not very clean. The owner and staff were very unprofessional and rude.
But he's a pretty easy going guy, so he didn't let any of that really bother him too much. But the night before checking out the owner of the establishment called police to his room because she refused to run my credit card and my partner did not have cash on him. They took his passport. The night before leaving. He asked them to run my card as they had agreed to do when I booked. He offered his card for payment. He showed them the transfer where he was going to get funds the next day to pay upon checking out of the hotel. No, they wanted cash now and were harassing him in his room. They threatened to take him to the station. The owner of this establishment called the police and confiscated his passport because she refused to accept the agreed upon payment. The payment wasn't even due until checkout the next day. I couldn't believe it. What an awful way to spend your last night in Tongatapu! What an insane way to run a business. Absolutely disgusting.
