Sehr Mangelhaft
Wir waren kürzlich vor Ort und sind immernoch enttäuscht. Das erste Zimmer hatte rings um die Klimaanlage schwarzen Schimmel. Die ersten zwei Tage konnten wir kein neues Zimmer bekommen. Ich schrieb dann das erste mal eine 1 Sterne Bewertung. Am 3 Tag musste ich dann an der Rezeption eine Erklärung abgeben warum ich eine 1 Sterne Bewertung geschrieben habe. Mit dem Kompromiss meine Bewertung auf eine 5 Sterne Bewertung zu verändern, bekamen wir dann ein neues Zimmer. Sogar mit Meerblick und Obstteller als Geschenk.. Das war dann aber auch der einzig positive Nebeneffekt, dass der Ausblick besser war. Ansonsten war auch dieses Zimmer nicht so viel besser. Außer das um die Klimaanlage nur minimal Schimmel zu sehen war,da der rest überpinselt wurde. Jetzt wo ich wieder zu Hause bin und man keine 5 Sterne Bewertung von mir verlangen kann, möchte ich hier klarstellen, dass dieses Hotel nicht empfehlenswert ist. Warum dies ein 4 Sterne Haus ist, ist mir völlig unklar.. die Toiletten die öffentlich zugänglich sind, sind unzumutbar. Kaputt,dreckig, weiße Flüssigkeit in den Ecken und im Behälter der WC Bürste..ich nehme an es war Gift, denn auch Kakerlaken waren dort einige zu finden. Wir haben für diesen Urlaub so viel Geld bezahlt und wurden so enttäuscht. Die Poolanlage und das Animationsteam waren für uns das einzige, was hier in Ordnung war. Auch das Essen war teilweise mangelhaft. An einem Tag war der Obstsalat schon schlecht und roch gärig. Aber darauf möchte ich garnicht weiter eingehen. Der Strandbereich könnte auch sauberer gehalten werden. Die Männer dort waren aber hilfsbereit und haben Matten für die Liegen gebracht. Für uns war es der erste,aber auch der letzte Urlaub in diesem Land. Wer hier deutschen Standard erwartet und denkt er bucht ein gutes 4 Sterne Hotel, wird leider enttäuscht. Wenn man das Hotel mal sanieren würde wäre es bestimmt schön. Lasst euch nicht von den Bildern im Internet blenden. Gerade was die Zimmer angeht. Die sind wirklich nicht in Ordnung.

Our first room had black mold all around the air conditioning unit. For the first two days, we were unable to get a different room. I then posted a one-star review. On the third day, I was asked to explain at the reception why I had left a one-star rating. After agreeing to change my review to five stars, we were finally given a different room—this time with a sea view and a complimentary fruit platter. That was the only positive outcome. The view was better, but the room itself was not much of an improvement. There was still mold around the air conditioning unit, although most of it had simply been painted over.
Now that I am back home and no one can pressure me into leaving a five-star review, I want to make it clear that I cannot recommend this hotel.
I honestly do not understand how this hotel has a four-star rating. The public restrooms were completely unacceptable—broken, dirty, with a white substance in the corners and inside the toilet brush holder. I assume it was poison because there were also several cockroaches there.
We paid a lot of money for this vacation and were extremely disappointed. The pool area and the entertainment team were the only things we genuinely enjoyed. Even the food was sometimes of poor quality. On one day, the fruit salad had already gone bad and smelled fermented. I won't even go into further detail about that.
The beach area could also have been kept much cleaner. However, the staff there were helpful and brought mats for the sun loungers.
For us, this was our first holiday in this country—and it will also be our last. Anyone expecting German standards and believing they are booking a good four-star hotel will unfortunately be disappointed.
If the hotel were properly renovated, it could certainly be a nice place to stay. Don't let the pictures on the internet fool you—especially when it comes to the rooms. They are simply not up to an acceptable standard. :(

I absolutely recommend this hotel
Had an amazing stay at Occidental Marhaba Hotel. The hotel is lovely the staff are friendly and the beach is beautiful. The best part of our holiday was definitely the animation team. They are full of energy always smiling and they make everyone feel welcome. There is always something fun to do during the day and the evening shows are great. They really made our holiday special. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this hotel.

Staff are the highlight of the hotel
Before we go into everything we wanted to say a massive thank you to Mohamed in the restaurant and Mohamed Jouini at the lobby bar. Both made our holiday so enjoyable and went above and beyond with everything they did for us. Mohamed in the restaurant always greeted us no matter where we were even if not serving us, was so friendly and chatty and remembered our drink order everyday. Mohamed Jouini was so attentive bringing us drinks (I didn’t know which cocktail to pick once so he made me all 3 AND bought them out for us), really chatty and also remembered our orders. It’s people like this that really make a hotel different from others- I hope some appreciation can be shown to them for this excellent service.
Pros of the hotel
-As mentioned all staff are very friendly and happy to do anything that will make your stay better (inc the workers at the pool bar always asking if you need more drinks)
-The hotel gardens and pool area are beautiful, so spacious and green
-Good atmosphere everywhere and the hotel is busy but you NEVER have to queue behind more than 2 people as a result of the staff having such quick service
-Lots of spaces to relax and have a drink
-Cleaners bring you clean towels every single day and made us laugh with their creative ways of displaying the stuffed animal in our room
-Entertainment team so happy and always doing something (special thanks to Madi and Yasin)
-Beds are HUGE and SO comfy
-aircon is so good in the room
-food was a good selection for what you pay for, our favourite night was Saturday where there was seafood, paella, chocolate fountain and chocolate cake
-generally really clean hotel
Things to consider
-unfortunately we didn’t have the best arrival as we were put in an unclean room and then the head of housekeeping lady was slightly rude (we felt), however it may have been a miscommunication with languages etc
- after discussing with a couple of people from reception they moved us immediately and we had no issues from then
-be prepared to be approached a lot by workers (photography, excursions, spa, animation team doing activities etc) , especially around the pool area. All in all, this was sometimes frustrating but they always respected “no” in the end and we understand this is just peoples way of making a livelihood which we completely respect.
- on the topic of excursions, I would not recommend the camel caravan personally. I found it quite distressing seeing how poorly the camels were treated (tied extremely close together, kicked when people were put on them, minimal breaks etc) obviously different countries have different regulations around animals but their welfare is something I feel quite strongly about (THIS IS NOT A REFLECTION OF THE HOTEL).
Overall we had an absolutely amazing stay, which was in huge part due to the staff and upkeep of the hotel. Would recommend to families and couples looking for a relaxing, luxury but affordable hotel.
