The sweetest personnel and a unique and interesting hotel. It’s not a social hotel, so if that’s your priority it is not the right one. If you love a unique stay, it’s recommended!
Walking distance to the Medina and famous mosque, through interesting streets.

A great experience

A magical place in the heart of Tunis. Of course, it is not a modern hotel and does not have the comforts of hotels. But the wonder of the architecture of the palace and the splendid hospitality of the owner Mr. Hayder make the stay unforgettable. Great breakfasts, efficient wifi. If you want to breathe the true Tunisian spirit, head to Der Hayder.

Bad.

the experience was bad and so we literally fled despite having the stay already paid for. Starting from the location, the dar is neither marked and is located in an extremely dirty area that seems unsafe even during the day. The reception unfortunately non-existent: no one speaks on the intercom, we venture autonomously inside the give welcomed instead by the strong smell of mothballs. Check-in in gestures due to an obvious language barrier (neither French nor English) and probably the poor health of the girl, who collected several used tissues on the sofa. The palace shows signs of a past beauty now more than forgotten and covered in dust and abandonment, the dark room with a heavy smell of closed and musty. Suffering from asthma I literally ran away despite having already paid for the stay, it would have been impossible and dangerous for my health to sleep in a bed without clean linen (literally a blanket of pail and two pillows also of pail) let alone wash in a bathroom with black stains of damp and dirt. Needless to say, Wi-Fi is not working.

Excellent location. Stunning historical building. Beautiful rooms. Quite rustic so dont expect five star furnishings. They offer sarongs instead of towels. The wifi is terrible but its worth it to say in such an amazingly building and stunning rooms. Staff are excellent. Use of small kitchen to make tea if you want it. Great location walking distance from medina sites.
