Clean

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 days and everything was perfect. The cleanliness was excellent, the breakfast variety was quite sufficient, the staff were very helpful in every way, and the hotel is centrally located. I can say it's our home away from home in Van. You can choose it with peace of mind.

Excellent Service

This was the first time I stayed at such a caring establishment in Van. I felt right at home; the rooms were very warm and clean, the toiletries were of good quality and sufficient, it was within walking distance of everything, the rooms were very quiet, no noise at all. In short, it's a very good establishment.

Customer Service and Amenities Lacking

I stayed in 2 hotels during my time in Van and this was my second one. Unfortunately, it did not compare with Karaca Hotel in service. The first night, I went to switch on my bedside lamp and the on/off switch popped out of the side. Without thinking, I grabbed the wrapped wires with the switch on the end to push it back into its cutout in the lamp. I immediately got a huge shock. The wires had electric tape wrapped around them but must not have been enough to prevent a shock. My finger had two white dots (burns from the electric shock) and even though I put it under cold running water for 15 minutes or so, it kept throbbing for a good couple of hours. It still hurt the next morning and didn't stop hurting until 24 hours later. We went to the reception in the morning, they looked very uncaring about the whole thing, and sent two young people to check it. They wrapped more electrical tape around the live wire part and taped it to the side, informing us we could not use the bedside lamp. That night, my husband's lamp had the same problem so we could not use our bedside lamps for our stay there. They did not offer to change our room, send someone to fix it, or even apologize for the occurrence. We had no room service during our 3 nights/4 days stay. Nobody brought us water or replenished the amenities (I had to go to another floor and find the cleaning cart and take a roll of toilet paper and water bottles for our room). They did not pay attention to missing things at breakfast, for example our table didn't have napkins and we had to ask twice before someone brought some. There was ketchup for the fries one morning and never again. The fries were cold, even though they were served in a heating pan. The hotel was full of guests so there was no hot water after 8:00 am unless you waited til 5:00 pm. Our room was nonsmoking (I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke) and smoke kept coming through the bathroom vent into our room so I had to keep the bathroom door closed. I also aired out the room a lot because there was a kind of musty smell coming from the shower area, or maybe it was the sink. The sink was a weird arrangement with a plank of marbelized wood? inside. The mattress had a top sheet (no fitted sheet) that didn't stay on well so by the second day we were sleeping on the bare mattress. We asked for a warmer blanket, but were informed that since it was summer, we could only have a thin blanket. The last night it got quite cold and a warmer blanket would have been welcomed.
Pros: There was plenty of options for breakfast, the room was clean, the mattress was comfortable, and the window opened fully.
Overall, I would only recommend if you are able to handle inconveniences, as the price of the room doesn't equal the service, or customer service.
