Unsatisfactory Stay at Afro Park Hotel
During my first visit to Kampala, I stayed at the Afro Park Hotel, and I regret to say that the experience was deeply disappointing due to a series of service failures:
Power Instability: The power in my room went off nine times, despite the hotel’s general power being uninterrupted.
Inadequate Resolution: Each time the power was supposedly fixed, it failed again shortly after, causing continuous inconvenience.
Staff Indifference: When addressing the power issue, one staff member carelessly laughed off my legitimate complaints.
Privacy Invasion: Despite explicit instructions for privacy, the laundry service entered my room unannounced, startling me during a time I had requested no disturbances.
Noisy Common Areas: The hotel’s swimming pool was perpetually crowded with children, making it impossible to enjoy a quiet moment or nap during the day.
Reception Rudeness: The evening receptionist’s attitude and customer service were appalling, the worst I’ve encountered.
Payment Issues: At checkout, I faced resistance over a bank-stamped $100 note. The manager’s solution was to exchange it at a disadvantageous rate without my consent, resulting in a financial loss.
This string of negative experiences ensures that Afro Park Hotel will not be my accommodation of choice in future Kampala visits.

Management stole our money

The management (Maker) here stole our money. I am a seasoned traveler and never dealt with such corrupt and dishonest hotel accommodations. We were dissatisfied with our room due to a musty smell. The air conditioning wasn’t working, so it took at least 30mins for them to resolve this. Once it was working, we gave it time air out the room. There was still a bad smell 15 mins later, since we couldn’t get comfortable, we decided to stay somewhere else. I was told that they couldn’t provide a refund, because management wasn’t there. Najib and Mable confirmed we receive the refund when management came in the morning. They even showed us another room, but it had dead bugs on the bed. So we left shortly after booking for the room to go to the Hilton, however the next day they didn’t respond. They ignored us for 2 weeks until I asked management (Maker). He refused to listen to our story and said there are no refunds. Unfortunately, we paid with cash, so we can’t even dispute their corrupt practices. If you would like to be lied to, money stolen, you should stay here. Don’t book here! If you are looking for a decent hotel, try the hotel. If you are looking for a low grade, musty, corrupt businesses, you can find much cheaper than Afro Park Hotel.
