Great facilities and welcoming staff, but let down by the lack of diabetic-friendly drink options
We arrived today and had a very smooth check-in. The staff have all been incredibly attentive, friendly and welcoming, making a great first impression.
The hotel facilities are excellent. The swimming pool is lovely, and it’s great to see a well-equipped gym and a sauna available for guests.
However, I was very disappointed by the complete lack of sugar-free soft drinks. There was no Pepsi Max, Coke Zero or any other diet soft drink available, and when I requested soda water, I was told it was out of stock.
As someone with diabetes, this is frustrating. Many travellers either have diabetes or simply choose to avoid sugary drinks, so it’s surprising that one of the area’s leading hotels doesn’t cater for this. Offering a few sugar-free options is a simple change that would make a big difference for many guests.
Overall, the hotel has made a very positive first impression thanks to its staff and facilities, but I sincerely hope management addresses this issue, as it would improve the experience for both international visitors and local guests.

High end but more than half of the rooms are degraded by the too loud music from the swimming pool area
Probably one of the top hotels in Mbale. Excellent service by well trained staff. Too far from Mbale center to walk, so you need to have or hire transport. Very nice rooms but you need to get one at the back: all the rooms at the front side are harassed the whole long day long by the far too loud music coming from the swimming pool area, some 25 m away from the main entrance - unless you are OK with listening constantly to the boom boom boom of its heavy bass. The Ugandan chef is exceptional, and a master also of Indian-Gujarati food. He made a reputation earlier in Jinja where his nickname became 'Patel' for it. And if you have to leave very early in the morning, he and some others will get up well before dawn to prepare your breakfast-take away-boxes.

A splendid few days at the Mbale Resort hotel
Able to stay here again while visiting churches and schools in the area. Such an oasis, wonderful to stay in the hotel. The facilities are excellent. Air conditioning, TV. wifi works well. The staff kind and very helpful. The breakfast a delight, a splendid spread, fruit, juice, coffee, pastries and all the elements of an English breakfast. I just love a stay there and plan my itinerary to allow me to do so. Sauna gym and swimming pool ,and all in beautiful gardens with interesting bird life. Highly recommended.
