Horrible

I recently had the misfortune of staying at this Mukono resort and I must admit that my experience left me utterly disappointed and frustrated due to the resort's horrible customer service. What was supposed to be a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway turned into a series of unpleasant encounters and regretful decisions. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it.

Dingy rooms but nice outdoor seating area

I've stayed here a number of times because it's the cheapest option in Mukono, only 20,000 shillings for a room last time I was there. But you get what you pay for. The rooms I've stayed in have been dark and a bit musty, the bathrooms are small with only a curtain separating them from the bedroom. Service can be very slow and waiters/waitresses lacking enthusiasm but the food to order has generally always been good. Breakfast is a bit lacking. Internet only in reception area.

NO FOOD AFTER WAITING FOR 2HRS

My friends and I decided to have our lunch at hotel, the 5 of us, entered the restaurant at 1:00 pm, and after 20 minutes of waiting without anyone attending to us, at 1:23pm, we approached the waitress and we pressed our orders. But we left the hotel at 3:00pm, without being served, with no reason, when we decided to leave, that is when we were informed that there was no power in the kitchen, but all along the waitress was informing us, that our orders are almost ready. We asked to talk to the Manager, but someone who never introduced himself, came and just told us how he was sorry!
Very disappointed with Mukono Resort Hotel. NEVER GO THERE WHEN YOU ARE "STARVING"

Not a good choice

Mukono Resort Hotel is located on main Mukono-Jinja Road. The area is big and they have many rooms. Rooms are very small and toilets are bad. Poor electric and bathroom fittings. Staff is cooperative though. Room service is very bad. For a tea, they took 45 minutes. In general, service levels are not at all good. I got my laundry after 4 days after following up a lot. If you do not have any other option to stay in Mukono (as there are very few good hotels), then only come here.
Wifi is only at the lobby.

Only because of location

I have stayed at this hotel about 8 times over two trips to Uganda. I have always stayed in the rooms off to the left of reception which are a bit quieter, but not quiet, when the hotel is hosting events or on weekend evenings. I have always felt safe at this hotel with it being gated off and with 24-hour security. The water has always been hot although not always full force. The squat toilets are a drag and it has been nice when I've occasionally had a room with a toilet. Pillows are lumpy foam sometimes and I always bring my own pillow case just because… As for the customer service - this place could use some improvement. On one occasion the manager had taken the wifi home with him/her for the night! Really?? On another occasion the wifi had been loaned to a guest who had taken it to their room. Really?? On both occasions the staff had grumpily brought the wifi router back to the lobby, but this shouldn't really happen if the hotel wants to advertise that they provide wifi. As for breakfast - if stale white bread, bananas and tea work for you then you are in good shape. For the most part I've had pasta for dinner there - it works, nothing special. I will stay here again because of the location, but I don't actually like this place.
