New hotel (August 2025) with excellent outside laundry service nearby
The hotel opened in August 2025 so everything is still nice and new. I checked in with Quionara who was very friendly and patiently explained the workings of the hotel to me but it might be more efficient to give guests a printout of the locations and opening times of the facilities.
She also gave me the number of a local laundry service called Noor Al Sharq which is just round the corner and when I called, the delivery man arrived within 10 minutes and brought my laundry back neatly folded and smelling nice the next day. I used them thoughout my stay at the Mercure then during my 2 week stay at the Sofitel Corniche and they would pick up and deliver at all hours, had reasonable prices and you could pay the delivery man by credit card.
As a Platinum Accor member I was pleased to get an upgrade to a suite with a shower rather than a bathtub which I preferred except that it didn't have a vertical slide bar for the handheld shower, just a hook and as the water pressure was high, water went everywhere. There was an overhead rainfall shower too but that wasn't as good for washing my hair. Luckily housekeeping was excellent as they had a lot of water to mop up every day from my showers.
The swimming pool on the 19th floor (take the lift to the left of the pair of lifts) is very small so you can't really have a good swim but I managed to swim 20 short lengths diagonally as not many people were in it. There were changing rooms by the pool but I preferred to have a shower in my room. There was a small gym on the 2nd floor along with a spa which only offered a basic massage. One evening I had a look in the nightclub on the same floor which had extremely loud music and was full of young ladies in skimpy outfits so I was out of there in two minutes.
Breakfast was in the restaurant on the 1st floor and was quite good. From the window you could see the major construction work going on in front of the hotel which is likely to last for a long time. To get a taxi you can turn right out of the hotel then left at the end of the building site and go to the front of the Trianon Royal hotel.
The highlight of the hotel for me was Le Cellier bar and restaurant on the 18th floor where you could get food till 11pm. It was a lovely place which I had mainly to myself although before the outbreak of the war with Iran it was packed every night. I was served by either Saifi or Thin and had nice conversations with both of them. The food was good too.
Overall, I had a very nice stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back again.

This is a new hotel in excellent condition, located right in the city center. The price is very reasonable, and the staff are friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, making the stay very enjoyable.
The only downside is that the road leading to the hotel is not well marked, and there are not enough signs to guide visitors. As a result, most taxi drivers had difficulty finding the hotel.
Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend staying here.

We had an event at Mercure Downtown Abu Dhabi last July 25, and it was our first event there after the renovation. We were truly impressed—the newly renovated facilities are beautiful, elegant, and very welcoming. But what made our experience even better was the amazing service from the entire team. ❤️
A special thank you to Ms. Arianne, who assisted us from the booking stage until the event day. She constantly kept us updated, followed up with us, and made sure everything was properly arranged.
Upon our arrival, Ms. Deanna was also very accommodating and helpful. The entire banquet team was attentive throughout the event, always checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed.
Special thanks as well to Mr. Tanay for his excellent assistance with the audio-visual requirements.
Everything went smoothly from start to finish, and the dinner buffet was delicious! Our compliments and appreciation to the chefs who prepared the wonderful food that evening. ✨

Very Disappointing and Poor Customer Service
I am extremely disappointed with my experience dealing with Mercure Hotel Abu Dhabi Downtown, particularly with their Marketing representative, Arianne.
We initially made an inquiry regarding an event booking, but the date we wanted was already reserved by another party. We were therefore advised to wait for almost a month to secure an available date. We were patient and willing to wait because we genuinely wanted to hold our event at the hotel.
On Friday afternoon, Arianne provided us with the quotation. Since it was already Friday and we assumed that the hotel may not be processing payments over the weekend, we decided to make the payment on Monday. We clearly communicated that we were ready to proceed with the payment.
What was extremely disappointing was that, despite our ongoing communication and her continued follow-ups regarding the inquiry, we were later informed that the booking had been given to another third party without informing us beforehand or giving us a reasonable opportunity to complete the payment.
For me, this is not simply about losing a booking. It is about professionalism, communication, and respect for a client's time and commitment. If another party was going to be given priority, we should have been informed clearly so that we could make an informed decision and arrange the payment immediately.
The way this matter was handled by the marketing representative was, in my personal experience, very unprofessional and disappointing. After spending nearly a month waiting and communicating with the hotel, we expected much better customer service and transparency.
I would strongly encourage anyone considering booking an event at Mercure Hotel Abu Dhabi Downtown to make sure that their reservation is formally confirmed in writing and that payment/booking deadlines are clearly established before relying on any verbal or ongoing discussions.
