Amazing castle views and incredible staff!
A flawless anniversary stay in the heart of Alnwick! The Bailiffgate Hotel is beautifully decorated to a very high specification. The little touches meant so much to us, like the lovely card left in the room from the team to wish us a happy anniversary and the complimentary glass of prosecco at dinner.
We stayed in Room 307, and the amazing room offered an incredible, breathtaking view of the castle right next door. It was spotlessly clean, and the evening turn-down service was a wonderful extra luxury.
The food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent, complemented by attentive and friendly service. A special shout-out must go to Darcy at the bar—she was incredibly friendly, highly knowledgeable, and stayed completely professional and smiling despite being so busy.
We cannot fault this hotel at all and will definitely return!

Truly amazing hotel. Standards are high, staff are friendly. Our room was amazing, had the wow factor! Breakfast was really good quality and locally sourced.

Lovely but breakfast is an issue
This is a lovely hotel. Great location opposite the castle. My room was beautiful. Thoughtfully appointed and some very nice touches. Great linens and Jo Loves toiletries.
I have only given 4 stars because the breakfast service is chaotic. Staff unsmiling and looking stressed although not overly busy. Tables not cleared. I sat for 35 minutes and no one took a hot breakfast order. I gave up and just ate from the cold buffet. Maybe I hit a bad day?
If this aspect is sorted this will be a great hotel.
Check in staff and chap who took my case to my room were delightful.

Idyllic location and beautiful boutique hotel.
Beautiful hotel, fabulous location opposite Alnwick castle and very well appointed suite on the top floor with a spacious balcony. Views from the huge bathroom were straight onto the castle
It’s been renovated superbly. You cannot fault the decor. Walking distance to everything in the small town. Parking on site although it is a big uphill walk to the hotel so drop your luggage off first.
The only tiny niggle if I had to find fault was that most of the staff at breakfast had not been trained to clear tables. Even when we ordered fresh coffees they delivered those but left the empties on the table.
Otherwise a really lovely stay.

Disappointing. Poor value. Great location. Poor accessibility.
We stayed here two nights on vacation. The hotel is expensive for what it is. We tried to add an additional night but they wanted more than £380 for a double room. The rooms are nice but not great at this price point. King size bed. Great location next to the castle. Car parking is three or four flights of steps below and even the accessible park is a flight below. The hotel is a mix of an old building with a new extension but the public rooms bar and lounge don’t really work. Restaurant was a mixed experience really good in parts and very poor at other times - notably breakfast ( dreadful on last day) . Service was equally mixed. Great from a senior and very poor from some staff.
