Hotel with good location

Nice little hotel. Rooms above a pub but no problems with pub noise in room 9.
Room for 1 person is small but everything one needs is there. Some things are a bit old, but shower worked very well and the toilet paper showed and felt that one cares about the guests.
May I remind everyone that after Covid, the small hotels in England must now slowly but surely get their act together. Long vacancy in England.
I slept well and enjoyed myself. Parking is free, but limited spaces.

Just awful.

Just awful. Yes cheap but not cheap enough. You book and pay from seeing advertised property and after paying are told there are no facilities due to refurb, that should be advised before booking. Room was just awful, dated, in clean, noisy and the green emergency light just kept the room lit up all night. Very nearly just didn’t stay and would never recommend anyone staying there until the place is updated and fit for customers.

Wanted it to be at least ok for £70 for a twin room with no frills.

Would have been a one star (or a zero if possible) if it wasn’t for helpful staff.
Carpets on entry to the stairs, filthy. Hallway carpets, filthy. The room: bedside lights didn’t work, room was stifling hot, turned the rads down from high to frost, but because the room was above the smoking area it was impossible to open the windows so the room did not cool. Shower dirty, sink had dark hairs in it. Mattresses were very uncomfortable, old fashioned springs I’d say with no topper to alleviate the pain! No bottled water (at £70 for the night, at least provide some bottled water?) Noisy all night, people up and down the corridor. I squashed a towel under the door as I was worried someone was going to come in. We left at 6.30am. Terrible nights sleep. It’s such a beautiful building and I don’t understand why it should be so appalling…..

Better than expected

Very clean good value for money Hotel situated in the centre of Town.
Yes it could all do with a few quid spent on the decor , But you get what you pay for and to be honest this is very good value for money and was very clean with great staff, the breakfast was great as well.
If you cannot park in Hotel car park, large car park behind pub 3 min walk, 8 min walk to Train , we did the real ale train RAT and we find this location was great.

Great overnight stop

Clean room although a little dated but considering the building is centuries old it was understandable but the owners have only been there for 6 months and refurbishment is happening where needed soon. Check in was quick and the staff member was friendly, polite and helpful.
