Perfect writers / yoga retreat in the heart of the Lake District!

This was my second time staying at Nab Cottage and it is the perfect retreat in the Lake District for yoga and writing! It’s like you are stepping back in time. A beautiful, cozy cottage and a large yoga studio next to it. The bedroom was lovely, overlooking the lake, very comfortable bed and pillows. I would highly recommend this guest house and I look forward to staying again soon!

Magical place

We were so lucky to get a booking due to a cancelation. Tim and Liz are so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are cosy but beds very comfy and it was refreshing not to have TV's in the rooms, felt like a proper digital detox for ourselves and our teenage kids. Waking up to the sound of lambs in the fields behind, we borrowed their canoes to go out on the lake and they cooked us the most incredible Sunday roast chicken for our dinner. Our kids weren't so pleased with us taking them away from their friends for the week but within 24 hrs of being in Nab cottage, they had reconnected with nature and the world around them and want to return as much as we do.

Lovely relaxing weekend at magical Nab Cottage

Just had a fantastic weekend in the Lake District. Stayed at Nab Cottage which is in the most stunning location. It is a shame it is on the busy road between Grasmere and Ambleside but the views more than make up for that. Staying at Nab is like stepping back in time. The floors are completely uneven and the floorboards creak but that all just adds to its charm and unique quality. The owners LIz and Tim could not have been more friendly and helpful and recommended a couple of really great walks. The breakfast was very tasty especially the home made bread. We will definitely be back.

Amazing idyllic location, cosy rooms & a lovely breakfast

Such a stunning location, directly across from Rydal water and surrounding areas like Grasmere and Ambleside are a nice walk if you love walking - which you sort of have to with the Lake District!
Quirky 16th century cottage where Wordsworth visited and where Coleridge lived i think. Anyway, history galore!
If you just want to get away and see beautiful countryside, you'll be glad to hear you dont necessarily need a car once you get here and it is incredibly reasonable room rate - however, be warned, they get full quick due to the number of groups that come for courses like yoga.
I came by train into Windemere and there is a bus that takes you pretty close to the cottage.
I had a lovely cosy bedroom with en suite shower and lovely organic products, with a decent breakfast of healthy muesli and fruits etc plus cooked food.
Quirky cottage due to its age - lots of squeaky floors but hey, after a healthy dose of 6 or 7 different stunning walks you can do straight from the cottage, you will be snoring through it all!
Liz and Tim who own it dont really interfere with your stay too much apart from breakfast requests.
Felt thoroughly rested after staying here.
And yes, they have wifi.

a lovely weekend

my husband an I have just stayed at nab cottage for the forth time. our rooms have always been cosy and very clean. the owners tim and liz are very friendly and helpful and food is good. if you are looking for lovely old place to stay in a lovely setting nab cottage is the place
