Comfortable hotel
Pleasant comfortable hotel right opposite High Force which you can visit free if you are staying at the hotel. Large room with lots of windows and quiet despite being right on the roadside. Really spacious bed. Tea and cake after our walk. Dinner was traditional pub food - steak, fish and chips etc which was well cooked. Breakfast had omelettes and other choices as well as the full English but no yogurts or chopped seasonal fruit like strawberries. Staff were really friendly. Room was a bit grubby - stained carpet in the entrance way, mouldy tiles and really dirty arms on the chairs and the bathroom smelled of boiled vegetables despite the strong room oil - would have given it top rating if not for these points. Also the restaurant was empty by 830 pm on a Saturday night so no atmosphere.

I was, however, disappointed to read your comments regarding the cleanliness of certain areas within your bedroom. Please accept my sincere apologies. This is certainly not the standard we aim to deliver, and I would like to thank you for bringing these points to our attention.
Following your feedback, we have carried out a thorough deep clean of the room, including steam cleaning the carpet and upholstered chairs, and have also resolved the staining to the bathroom grout. Guest feedback is invaluable in helping us maintain the high standards we strive for, and we appreciate you taking the time to highlight these issues.
I was also sorry to hear that you found the restaurant lacking in atmosphere later in the evening. As a small country hotel, the ambience can naturally vary depending on the number of diners on a particular evening, although I appreciate your comments.
Thank you once again for your balanced and constructive feedback. I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future so that we can provide the five-star experience we always aim to deliver.

A fantastic hotel with the nicest of staff,wonderful rooms and a restaurant providing some of the best food we have ever had.

Would stay again!
Easy to find and beautiful area. Very homey atmosphere. Lovely room fresh and clean. Delicious food and wonderful people working there. Enjoyed the water fall walk and the included tour of Raby castle.

Lovely cosy stay
Lovely stay at the High Force Hotel. We were in the cosy room, which was snug but his is explained when booking - lovely decor and thoughtfully laid out, perfect for 1 or 2 nights. Food and service was amazing, best steak and chips I've eaten! Good selection of wines. Very dog friendly :)

Great Hotel
Toby (the dog) made the stay. Had the most peaceful time, very spacious room with lovely decor. Staff were very attentive can’t praise them enough. The food was beautiful for both dinner and breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
