Only college to be added to the University between 1596 and 1869

Interesting to learn that it’s the only college to be added to the university between 1596 and 1869 and is thus known colloquially as the newest of the old or oldest of the new.
Established in 1800 it has a high reputation for its legal and medical faculties and studies. Lovely buildings in light hued stone predominate and it was great strolling around the court and admiring them.
A fine chapel had nobody but ourselves visiting so quite tranquil. An impressive Library, the Maitland Robinson, by Quinlan Terry was opened in 1992.

Everything very well cared for, good breakfast, fine so, worthy of the star. Close to everything, everything within walking distance. It was easy at the 1/2 marathon, which we came for. Beautiful place seen and walked a lot. Recommended museum and kings Chapel and other the town eleven

Imposing College in Cambridge

We popped in to Downing College, which is not as old as other University Colleges in Cambridge. We received a warm welcome from the Staff in the Porter's Lodge.
The Grounds and Buildings were interesting to see and the Chapel was quite beautiful.
Admission to Downing College was free.

Visit to Heong Gallery Downing College

We visited today as a follow up of the David Hockney exhibition at the Fitzwilliam museum. I must say that we were very pleasantly surprised to be able to view a very albeit small exhibition of more of David Hockney’s paintings.
Easy to find and access not far from The museum and a very good display which was a real pleasure to look at.
Again the staff were pleasant and helpful
A lovey extension to our original visit at the museum.

Wedding Celebration

Attended a wedding celebration last weekend and I was completely wowed by everything. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need, the grounds are extensive and so peaceful (you actually forget you’re in the centre of the city!), the breakfast was amazing, such good quality and generous portions, although could maybe use a few more continental/cold items. Throughout our stay the events team made everything perfect and seamless (even with the unfortunate weather!) and would definitely recommend this for smaller parties or large events. Thank you for such an amazing weekend!
