A theological focus

Founded in the early 1840s but it was in 1899 that it moved to Cambridge. A superior red brick style is most impressive in its great buildings.
It main studies lead to the ordination of ministers for the United Reformed Church.

Noisy traffic, disappointing breakfast

Room was good but roadworks kept me awake. Croissants ran out and there was no marmalade. Shame to spoil pleasant room with good toiletries by small details. Why no marmalade? It's part of an English breakfast. And buy more croissants. Roadworks end on 6 April so book somewhere else if you plan to stay in Cambridge before that date.

You could stay somewhere else but you would be missing out

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the accommodation but it was more than I could have anticipated. It isn’t a boutique or luxurious hotel but the rooms lack nothing. I couldn’t fault any part of my stay. The breakfast room is worth the stay alone but the best part was the reception staff. If every customer service experience was like this life would be so much nicer, thank you ladies. Myself and my two school friends has a really lovely stay and I WILL be back.

Unprofessional reception and cold room

The good - Nice building, good location. excellent breakfast.
The bad - unprofessional reception, cold room
1. My checkin at reception was shambolic. Despite booking over 3 months before on Expedia and showing the receptionist the confirmation she asserted this was wrong and tried to charge me about an extra £100 for the 3 nights, presenting me with the card reader with this new amount. When I protested she eventually reluctantly agreed to revert to the booked rate but insisting Expedia had got it wrong and she would have to claim the balance from them. As I explained, this was not my concern - I had an agreed accepted booking and price. They should have checked their listing on expedia and corrected it if wrong (they had clearly never done so), not try to change the terms when the guest arrives. Then she insisted I had to pay £10 a day parking charge, despite the booking saying clearly 'Parking included' and 'Free self parking on site'. On being shown this (and asking for a copy to be emailed! ) she with bad grace 'agreed' not to charge me while again saying she would take it up with Expedia and telling me ‘next time you will have to pay'. (I can tell you there will not be a next time)
There was no apology for trying to overcharge me or any recognition you can’t just change a contract like that. . I left reception feeling upset by the rudeness and the implication I was somehow cheating them.
2. My room was COLD with NO HEATING (it was end sept) as they clearly don't put on CH until October. I had to ask for an electric heater but only got one 18 hours later on asking a second time.
3. Noone came to clean my room and I had to ask for towels to be changed on day 3.
Their rates are typically £130-150 a night - I think one should expect better for that.
