Great for a night's stay in the Peak's with the dog. Comfy spacious room, clean and quiet after 10pm to get a good night's sleep. Food in pub was delicious and communication throughout was spot on.

Excellent staff. All very accommodating.

We held my Dads birthday & family meet up here at the hotel on tail end of a heatwave. Family were staying in the hotel & reported it was very good. All the bar & restaurant staff were excellent. Everyone was very accommodating & down to earth. Extra kudos to the kitchen for nailing a gluten-free meal for my coeliac partner. Definitely recommend if you want to stay / eat / drink in Castleton.

We stayed at the Peak Hotel for 3 nights & unfortunately did not have a positive experience.
While the property is exactly as advertised—a charming historic building with a pub downstairs—it feels more like a pub with a few guest rooms than a traditional hotel. After check-in, there was very little interaction or hospitality from staff.
Our biggest issue was Room #1, which is located directly beside the pub’s outdoor patio. The room faces the patio, so there is virtually no privacy unless the curtains remain closed at all times. It is also extremely noisy.
During our stay there was a heat wave, and the room became unbearably hot. With no air conditioning & only a high ceiling fan that provided little airflow, we had to keep the window open, which made the noise even worse. When I asked about a floor or table fan, I was told they didn’t have one.
The pub regularly hosts live music until very late, and the patio remained busy and loud every night of our stay. On one evening, a fight and shouting match outside our room continued until after 1 a.m. When I raised concerns about the noise, I was told that because I was staying at a pub, there was nothing they could do.
We came to the peaks to walk the fells, staring early each morning, but every day we were exhausted from having little to no sleep.
If you’re looking for a quiet hotel stay, I would strongly recommend avoiding Room #1. Perhaps the hotel could put a disclaimer on this room so people know what they're in for.

Peak hotel worth a visit

Excellent meal. cooked really well and at a reasonable price. Service excellent. Sarah the barmaid, waitress, mine host was extremely good. Will be eating here again this week
