Poor food and bar service
I have stayed here many times and have always found the hotel and the experience to be very good, this time it wasn’t.
The hotel is very good, check in staff are super friendly, rooms are excellent quality and don’t disappoint. It was my birthday so I ordered and amaretto sours at £12.95, expensive at that as amaretto is a cheap liqueur. The waiter served it in the smallest glass you can imagine, it barely covered 2 inches and was well short of the top of the glass, and had more foam that drink, he just added more ice to take it to the top. Astonishingly poor for a £13 cocktail.
Next day the breakfast was poor as well, staff clearly had an issue with each other , no happy faces, no smiling, our table remained uncleared for the 50 minutes we were there, the restaurant wasn’t a happy place and it was easy to see and feel.

A lovely stay in Chester
A lovely location, with a pleasant view on arrival with fountains and lots of green space.
The host on check-in was absolutely fantastic, asking us about our plans and could not have been more welcoming.
Our room was pleasant, clean and tidy with a nice bathroom - although it was a shame to see quite a few cracked tiles in there. The housekeeping team had missed a bottle of shower gel that had been left on the side of the bath by a previous guest - not a big deal but something I would have expected to have been removed prior to us arriving.
The spa area is fine, but not for me. It was quite noisy with a lack of places to sit. We spent 30 minutes or so in there before deciding to come out.
Our evening meal in the restaurant was delicious - really lovely food, good cocktails and fantastic service from Jack.
Breakfast the next morning was fine, but I've had better at lower-rated establishments. Things like the hash brown bites were a bit soggy and undercooked.
Overall, a lovely stay in peaceful, relaxing surroundings.

Poor, arrogant service
So the room is really nice and the hotel overall is good and only a short taxi ride from Chester town centre. However there are 2 things which made me give a 3 star, first there was hardly any recognition of my diamond status which I could overlook but when I got back to the hotel at 23:00 and asked for a cocktail as a nightcap I was told, pretty aggressively, that they couldn’t do it so I ended up having a beer. It wasn’t so much that a cocktail couldn’t be made but the attitude of the staff member that threw me and subsequently annoyed me to write.
I was going to return with my wife but given the attitude of the bar/restaurant staff I probably will not. There are much better, client oriented hotels in Chester than this one, and this as a Diamond Hilton Honors member.

No faults
Third visit to this hotel and as always never fails to disappoint. The inviting aroma as you walk in to the lobby sets everything up for a pleasant stay. Friendly staff, all areas including reception, restaurant/bar, corridors, rooms and outside was immaculately clean. Fantastic selection of toiletries in spacious and calm rooms with tasteful decor and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was amazing, quality and choice second to none.
Set within beautiful grounds with ample parking and easy location. Price to value ratio was incredibly good and have never experienced a bad stay here. Definitely worth staying at when in the area. The hotel is located less than 2 miles from Chester city centre and offers a quiet and relaxing stay.
