Glorious The George

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous with a helpful, friendly staff to guarantee your stay is perfect. Monika at reception helped to ensure our stay was fabulous. Located near the city center. Daily breakfast with many choices. I will return!

Late review….polite version

Should have written this at the time, our flight was cancelled last minute at Inverness, so 13 of us were put in taxis to this hotel, 4 hour journey in what was absolutely horrendous weather! We arrived at midnight, to be met with a far from warm welcome, in fact, no welcome at all, from reception staff, especially one individual, despite the cost they picked up from our airline for what was less than 6 hours in our rooms, as our new flight was very early, no time for breakfast etc…. I wdnt return if it was free tbh…. S we were travelling to celebrate our sons 21st…..

Hi Cruiser27733469334,
We are truly sorry to hear about your experience during such a challenging situation. It’s disappointing to learn that our reception team did not provide the warm welcome we strive for, especially after your long journey. We understand how important your son's 21st celebration was, and we regret that we fell short of making it special. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will address these concerns with our team to improve our service. We hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future.

So-so

First of all, the 18th century facade is magnificent and it's in a bustling, fun location, surrounded by good shops, cafes, restaurants and overall Scottish cheerfulness. More upsides: excellent breakfast that was included in my rate (not sure if that is true for everyone), responsive concierge, good housekeeping with turndown, nice bed and bath linens and way above average pillows.
Downside: Most rooms are in a late 90's building. The rooms are small and drab, with some of the ugliest furniture I've ever seen. Unfortunately it's not battered and worn so you can expect it to remain for quite some time. The George is a storied Edinburgh name and Intercontinental has whipped it into bland, boring submission. I’m not inclined to stay there again.

Wonderfull stay

The hotel is very nice, staff is very helpfull and friendly. Only minor point i have is that the room doors cannot close without a lot of noise meaning banging doors all night. The doors should close with a lot less sound to prevent excessive noise for other guests.
