Perfect stay!

Our honeymoon couldn't have started better then at Straven Guesthouse.
We arrived late and Sinead was so welcoming and warm hearted. She took such good care of us and gave us all the needed informations.☺️
The room was clean, classic and inviting.
There were many options for breakfast which was phenomenal! ☺️ Everything was home made and you could taste the difference.
Located at Portobello Beach it was just a minute walk to the shore. Parking wasn't a problem at all in front of the house.
It's 25 minutes by bus into Edinburgh City and the bus stop is only a 3 minute walk away. Just perfect.
Sinead and Chris, who's very caring and interested, are doing a great job there.
We would love to come back there. ☺️

Lovely Straven Guest House.

Our stay at Straven Guest House was beyond all expectations. They are well located for transportation to downtown Edinburgh and to plenty of local restaurants and shops in Portobello. The beach promenade is easily accessed. Sinead and Chris are excellent hosts who provide outstanding breakfast menus, along with valuable information on what to see and how to get there. We highly recommend Straven Guest House.

Another perfect stay

Stayed at Straven guest house for a second time and it didn't disappoint. We took the superking top bedroom with a view of the Firth and it was extremely comfortable and quiet. Breakfast has so much choice and is so scrummy that we didn't really need lunch. Ideally placed for the bus into Edinburgh, Portobello prom and the main Portobello Street with its lovely shops, bars and eateries.
The owners are very approachable and accommodating, with a lovely manner. Will definitely stay again when we're in the area.

A Wonderful Guesthouse

We stayed here for 5 nights and it was wonderful. We had a ground floor room which was nice not to have to carry luggage up and down stairs. The room was spacious and the king bed was very comfortable. The hosts were gracious and provided lots of information about what to do in the area. The beach was within walking distance with lots of places to dine. They do serve breakfast and you do not want to miss that, the food was wonderful. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Great location, lovely hosts and very good room

I had an incredibly lovely stay at Straven Guesthouse visiting in early September. The location is great. The bus to city centre leaves around the corner and takes about 30 minutes to the city centre. A bus to North Berwick drives by the coast and you take beautiful walks along the coast and beaches. Chris and Sinead are wonderful hosts. I felt right at home. They offer a variety of really good breakfast options and tips on what to do in Edinburgh and surroundings, including more "hidden gems" that might not be that well known. The room I stayed in was cozy and well equipped. I had a wonderful time and hope I'll be able to come back.
