Night in Edinburgh for a concert.

My partner and I were looking for somewhere in Edinburgh not too far from the city centre that was affordable for us. The ocean Inn had some mixed reviews so I was a bit wary, however we needn't have worried. For a budget B&B it was great. Tony, who was there to greet us was very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for him. The facilities were fine, hairdryer offered and the complementary water in the room was a plus for me. It was clean and comfortable. We paid £8 for breakfast which was lovely and more than ample. There's great bus links to the city centre but we did choose to taxi it a few times. Just under £6 pounds from the city to the ocean inn. It was nearer the £10 mark later on at night. All in all if you are looking for a reasonably priced B&B for the night or weekend not too far from the city then I would recommend the Ocean Inn.

Scam: Worse than a hostel for a much higher price

Keep away from this place!!! We've booked it via Booking.com thinking that it's a value for money place a bit outside of Edinburgh centre. We couldn't be more wrong.
- The room is cold, the window do not isolate.
- Nor the walls nor window aren't soundproof. You can practically hear your neighbours chatting and everything else.
- We had a street facing room. The feeling was like being in a tent in the middle of a junction.
- The bathroom is small, the shower cabin basis looks like a price of wood already falling apart. We didn't try the shower, but I believe what others say that the water is pouring to the room below.
- The location is awful, you need to take a bus or taxi to get close to Edinburgh center.
And this place stating on Google Maps like 4-start hotel... elsewhere as B&B (without any Breakfast opportunity). It's a shame.
It's a joke and a scam the same time. Do not book it and stay if you want to have good time in Edinburgh.

Needs a refresh

Hotel room was dusty, bed was very uncomfortable, the bannister needs fixing it’s very dangerous. The maid came in but didn’t change the bedding, I had to ask for clean towels which she left, there are signs of a leak in the roof on the ceiling which needs to be looked at , the room could do with blinds for privacy, tv as a bracket on the wall but tv was on a table which took quite abit of room, the step into the toilet is quite dangerous especially at night.

Clean, but rundown.

We stayed in room 4. It has 2 twin beds and a (almost) full bath. I say almost because it was VERY small. If you're fat (like me) getting into the shower may be an issue. I had to back into the corner and suck in my gut to get the door closed.
The electric kettle cord doesn't reach the plug, so if you want a cuppa, you will need to set the kettle on the floor.
Bedding, bathroom, and towels are clean as is the bathroom.
Fir the price, it's decent.

Ripped off

Booked this for a stay after a nice meal. Our meal was cancelled due to covid 19 so we tried to re book another date..were not allowed as hotel was up and running..changed the name to our daughter who arrived to find it closed..they put her and partner up in a hostel round the corner where they were supplied with a towel and toilet roll on arrival..absolutely shocking
