4 night stay at YOTEL Edinburgh.

Solo stay at YOTEL Edinburgh for 4 nights. Great location, easy walk to Prince’s Street about 7 minutes. Also easy 10 minute walk to Stockbridge and Dean Path areas of Edinburgh. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby to the hotel. Check out the high street in Stockbridge for shopping and restaurants and a more local feel.
Hotel itself was clean in the common areas. Friendly people at the front desk “ Mission Control”. Small shop in the lobby for snacks etc… expensive tho.
If you forgot your umbrella you can rent one in the lobby during your stay, great idea!
The room itself was a great functional use of space and had the easiest thermostat and shower control’s of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in - much appreciated! The adjustable bed was very, very comfortable for both sleeping and lounging. Small fridge came in handy! I didn’t use the gym but I did stick my head in for a look. It seemed good for a quick basic workout. The breakfast spread was varied, something for everyone and the hot food was hot.
Only odd thing was going into the bar to order dinner off the menu and being told they could only make pizza because of a big event going on in their banquet room which appeared to be a bridal shower. This meant I left the hotel to eat dinner that night.
Overall I enjoyed my stay here and I would return. Good value for money in Edinburgh which can be really expensive to stay in.

Hi 26janettej,
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time at YOTEL Edinburgh and that our location, rooms, facilities, and friendly team helped make your visit a positive one. It is great to know that you found the room design functional, the adjustable bed comfortable, and our shower and temperature controls easy to use. We are also pleased that you enjoyed our breakfast selection and the convenience of our lobby facilities, including the umbrella rental service.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the dining options available during your stay. We are sorry that we were unable to offer our full menu on that evening due to the event taking place, and we understand this was disappointing. We will share your comments with the team as we continue to improve our guest experience.
Thank you again for choosing to stay with us. We are thrilled to hear you would return, and we look forward to welcoming you back to YOTEL Edinburgh in the future.
Kind regards,
Marina

Bad waiting time for food and slow service

The restaurant wasn’t the best didn’t have any food we wanted and when given our pizza we didn’t get any napkins and had to wait 15 minutes for the gousons after we had eaten our food

Worst stay ever

Mind you, I have waited 5 days to let it settle and not write out of anger.
I am a tour leader, I have spent thousands of nights in hundreds of hotels all over the world - this has been by far my worst experience!
As I occupied my room in the evening, I noticed that although I turned the air-conditioning off, it turned back on all the time. It was too late, I was too tired, so I just accepted it. However, in the morning I woke up in freezing cold, I had a sore throat and pain in all my joints. I complained at Reception in the morning. Receptionist confirmed that the system turns air-conditioning automatically on every time after 2 hours. In fact it was worse: it turned back on after about 5 minutes. Receptionist also said that they can turn the air conditioning off in their system remotely. I asked them to do that.
Yet, as I came back in the afternoon the air conditioning was running again. The room was freezing cold. I went down to reception and asked them to turn it off in their system. They turned it off. It was around 7pm. Yet at 10pm all of a sudden the air-conditioning came back on. I walked down to reception and asked them to turn it off. They turned it off. This receptionist explained me that no matter what I do or they do, at midnight the system will reset and the A/C will turn on again, but he promised that he personally makes sure that in my room it will be turned off. I went to sleep. At 4 am (i.e. 04:00 bloody a.m.) I woke up to the noise and the cold blast the A/C was doing. I called reception (from my cell phone because the in-room phone did not make it possible), complained and asked them to turn it off. They turned it off. However, after 5 minutes it turned on again. I had to call Reception again (at 04:05 am!!!) to turn A/C off. This was the lovely game we were playing.
As I complained upon leaving, a lady, who I believe to be the front office manager, said she likes to sleep in cold with the air-conditioning on. Which I suppose means that I should like it too and that's it in terms of an apology.
Now I have spent quite a sum on medication. I have a strong sinusitis. I had to turn down my next job and look for substitution. Thanks Yotel Edinburgh. It was a lovely stay indeed. Outrageous.

Like the previous review who nailed it!

I 100% agree with the review just previous to this one. It's like AI designed the rooms and nobody checked before it was built. Some quirky ideas implemented that just don't work. Our shower door didn't close properly so water all over the floor. There's a bar downstairs that had really friendly staff and a good selection including Guinness. The breakfast was the exact same every day and there's a small market downstairs extremely overpriced. You can check in to the right of reception in a self serve kiosk.

Hi Motorbragg,
We are sorry to hear that some aspects of your room experience did not meet your expectations. We understand that the YOTEL concept and room design are different from a traditional hotel, and while many guests enjoy the modern and efficient use of space, we appreciate that some features may not suit everyone.
We are particularly sorry to hear about the issue with your shower door and the water on the bathroom floor. This is not the experience we want our guests to have, and we will ensure this is followed up with our team to prevent similar issues in the future.
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the friendly service from our team at the bar and the selection available.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide a more enjoyable stay in the future.
Kind regards,
Marina

Looks cool, very poorly executed

I'll tell you, I dislike the Yotel, a lot. the rooms are so poorly thought out.
The light switch for the bathroom is at the front door, and turns on all the lights. need to go to take a leak in the middle of the night? too bad.
Need a towel for your shower? that's in the toilet. that's where the towel rack is.
Want to charge your devices? no outlets near the beds.
Coffee in the room, which I've had in the last 30 hotels I've stayed in? no.
Everything here is just prolly thought through.
Got coffee downstairs today, took 5 tries, with a staff member, because it wasn't working, and when he got it to work the coffee was cold.
This place looks cool on the surface, but it is one of the least well executed hotels I've stayed at. It is like AI designed everything totally without human input.

Hi businessperson3500,
We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We understand that some of the design choices within our cabins can feel different from a traditional hotel setup, and we appreciate that this style may not suit every guest. Many of these features are part of YOTEL’s modern design concept, created to maximise space and provide a streamlined experience, but we recognise that they may not be ideal for everyone.
We are also sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with the coffee machine and the time it took to receive a satisfactory drink. This is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide, and we will share your comments with our team to ensure we continue improving.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the cabin layout and facilities, as guest comments are important in helping us review and enhance our offering. We are sorry that the experience did not match what you were looking for, but we hope you may consider giving us another opportunity in the future.
Kind regards,
Marina
