St Cruz - Great stay lived up to expectation
Ideally located for exploring Northumberland, North and South. Apartment was pretty much as per pictures. Nice welcome pack of milk juice butter and bread. Comfortable bed, clean and mkdern throughout. Pool was larger than expected but slots did get booked up.

The outstanding North Farm Cottages, Embleton.
Outstanding in every respect. Easy 15 minute access on foot to the coast and excellent walks. Use of indoor swimming pool with a very well organised booking system so that everyone has fair, equitable access. The owner kindly gave us permission to store our bikes in the garage to protect them against inclement weather. We stayed in a 2 person studio flat with breathtaking views of Dunstanburgh Castle and the coast. There is a bus stop next to the cottages in case you want to visit nearby villages and towns without the car, and an excellent farm shop and pubs in Embleton village. The accommodation is clean, well maintained and very good value for money. For people who like the outdoors North Farm Cottages is excellently situated. However, for those who prefer a less active holiday, the accommodation is 15 minutes from Alnwick, Alnmouth, around 30 minutes from Holy Island, Amble and Warkworth and a little longer to Berwick and Wooler. We cycled around Kielder Water but that is around 90 minutes away. We cannot recommend North Farm Cottages enough. Excellent in every respect.

Wildlife Heaven
This was our third stay at Long Cart cottage here and hopefully not our last as 3 generations. Each time we have struggled to leave. We could see the sunrise over the sea from.the window. And Dunstanburgh Castle. So much wildlife - deer, hares, all manner of garden, wood and sea birds, We saw the otter too, bats, wild ponies, and barn owl. And the big skies and Sandy beach with lots of rockpools. So peaceful.
The cottage itself is cosy with plenty of space and great facilities, and has everything you need. They do think of the people occupying it. It's so appreciated.
There is a lovely village post office/shop. And we visited an ice cream parlour in a field a minute's drive away, and had a woodfired pizza made by Embers, very nearby on a farm too. Delicious. Alnwick Gardens is a lovely day out, as well as going into the amazing Barter Books, as is a trip to the Farne Islands from Seahouses, where there are some lovely shops too. Seeing the little terns and Arctic terns at Beadnell is special, but we could have spent the whole week, each time, just enjoying exactly where we were. A peaceful retreat, with so much beauty all around.

A Home from Home with a swimming pool too.
Three generations of our family have holidayed together in different places for the last nineteen years, barring covid, and Granary Stone House ranks right up there with the best. The property was spotless and well maintained. We could all eat together at the table and we were provided with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the views were beautiful. The young ones loved the swimming pool and there is plenty of space for everyone to do their own thing in the house. The owners were lovely and friendly and gave us a very generous welcome pack. We left with fond memories of a great holiday experience.

Terrible experience
We have stayed in many cottages and always throughly enjoyed them however we will never return to these!
The owners state 5 star luxury, it couldn’t be further from the truth!
The cottage was freezing on entering, no one had bothered to cone and turn the heating up for us arriving. The thermostat controls are poor and do not keep the stone cottage heated.
It was clean however the bedrooms smelt musty so much so I didn’t used the wardrobes.
The worst was the comfort of the beds, absolutely rock hard so much so after 30 minutes we got up and slept on the sofa!
If we had contacted the owners at that time of night it would cost us £40 as it states in the rule book.
The bathroom was not welcoming or cosy, the floor was freezing.
There were so many rules, full the dishwasher before you leave, strip the beds, don’t have alcohol in the hot tub! The hot tub area needed maintenance as paint chipping off around it, it was not private at all, could see and hear children in next hot tub and the cottage adjourning could see from their kitchen window straight into our area and hot tub.
What a waste of hundreds of pounds. We came home after one night so housekeeping you would have thought would notice but no contact from owners. I contacted the owners on our return and basically they were not bothered. We will never return or recommend.
