Fantastic mind clearing experience
Remotely situated for walkers for Scafell and many more high peaks.
However we spend a day at the beaches of Drigg, Seascale and St. Bees. Lovely and uncrowded. We did big Supermarket shopping at Aldi in Whitehaven which is a port of bygone times with a nice waterfront.
Preserved railway station with museum and train journey at Ravenglass. Worth a visit.
We had used Burnthwaite farm B and B previously but this time we booked the self catering cottage for 4 people. Lovely old farm cottage. Plentifully stocked with equipment and essentials. So peaceful and relaxing with breathtaking views.
Would definitely revisit.
The hosts Georgina Andrew and Stanley the dog are very welcoming and helpful.
Dog friendly up to 2 dogs in cottage and B and B.
Feeling very refreshed after this holiday

Perfect stay
It's a working farmhouse so it's not a modern building but was really cosy and felt really at home here.
We had a bedroom with an ensuite that wasn't massive inside but plenty big enough for two off us for a couple of nights.
Really nice room overlooking hills, fields and sheep.
Breakfast was really nicely cooked with a very choice and quality produce.
On an evening there are a few sofas you can sit on next to a open log burner so was nice and warm with DVDs, book's and games.
You can make a hot drink or up until 9pm you can buy beers and wine at a reasonable price.
Georgina who runs the guest house is one of the nicest people you can meet and nothing is too much trouble.
Checking out today on Easter Sunday even had a cream egg next to our breakfast which I thought was a lovely touch.
It's quite rural but that's part of it's appeal so just one pub about a ten minutes walk that sells pretty good food, pub grub done well and a very small church.
Plenty of good walks from the farmhouse.
I'f you totally want to disconnect this is the place to go
